PES 2008 demo on PSN

Plus PS Eye games, more.

Demos of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 and Juiced 2 are among the highlights in this week's PlayStation Network shop update for Europe. About time - on both counts.

Joining them are those PlayStation Eye games we looked at on Monday - Mesmerize and Tori Emaki (both GBP 1.99 / EUR 2.99) - along with Feel Ski (GBP 4.99 / EUR 7.99).

Sony has also piled on a bunch of new videos - three for Uncharted (character/music, introducing Naughty Dog, "The Inspiration"), two for Eye of Judgement (how to play, introduction), two for Lair (Call of the Beast, When Dragons Attack) and one each for MotorStorm Revenge Weekend and PlayStation Eye.

What's more, there's an Uncharted Map wallpaper image for getting rid of those stupid PS3 ribbon things, which you can stare at excitedly while you wait for Alien Versus Predator - Requiem and Hitman film trailers to download. Olyphantastic.

I think Sony missed the point of a demo.

Yeah the game tends to bugger up when you Bg download guess it extends to in the demo as well.

I think Sony missed the point of a demo.

    It's Konami's problem, not Sony's.

"It did go through Sony's acceptance testing ... "

Well based on all the reports of slowdown etc is it any wonder they put it up after the game was released?
  • Steroyd #8 4 years ago

Then why did MS put the demo on XBL?

    It's Sony being stupid. >:(

Konami held back the PS3 demo because it suffered from slowdown.

The demo doesn't even work on my PS3 - the thing starts and the screen goes black. I have to reboot to recover. Crappy demo indeed.

The demo works fine on my machine and deceptively appears to better than the full version of the game mainly because the stadium and fixed camera angle you play from minimise the framerate issues (which are still there by the way when there's a lot of players in the penalty box for example).

Anyway I've sent the abysmal PS3 version of PES 2008 back to Gameplay for a refund and, although the 360 version I now own isn't perfect either, at least I don't have to worry playing in specific stadiums from certain angles in order to reduce slowdown/tearing. In my opinion, the PS3 version shouldn't have been released in the state it was and I'd even argue that the 360 version could have done with a month or two extra development to sort out the disgraceful slowdown in the replays.

PES demo worked just fine for me, although I can't say I was particularly impressed. People call PES the purist choice but it's clearly far more arcadey than Fifa 08. I will say the ball had a nice weight to it though.

    Juice2 demo...complete garbage.

the PES 08 demo was okay on my PS3, I did notice the FPS drops they aren't terrible, but overall I wasn't impressed with it, I didn't even entertain the thought of trying Juiced 2
