OneChanbara dated for late February

Girls! Bikinis! Zombies! Action!

D3Publisher plans to release OneChanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers for Wii and OneChanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad for Xbox 360 on 27th February.

These are action games starring Japanese girls not wearing many clothes. The word OneChanbara is a mix of meanings: a slang word for a young adult woman and a word for sword fighting.

Bikini Samurai Squad on Xbox 360 puts players in charge of three girls who cut and blast through hordes of undead baddies. There's co-operative play, or the option to switch between the girls in single-player.

There's a bloodlust meter to fill up in order to go berserk, weapon sharpness to monitor and extra clothes to dress up in. Famitsu scored the game an average 27/40.

Bikini Zombie Slayers on Wii is much the same, but with appropriate arm-waving controls. Famitsu scored this 26/40.

OneChanbara has historically been a Japanese craze, resulting in a recent movie, which you can find out more about over on the proper website.

i played the first one on PS2 (released as "zombie zone" in europe), and it was shit. i'm not holding my breath.

    In EU? whats the prices?

Zombie hunters 2 (which i think was the third Ps2 title) was pretty good fun once you'd upgraded the characters a bit, but in all honesty the £8 price tag kind of tempered expectations somewhat.

The £25-£30 these new games are going for is gonna be a lot harder to live up to (especially after the xmas price-ocalypse for new releases)

for once i'm completely undecided, looking forward to seeing the reviews (and the movie - it looks awesome)

This could be 2009's answer to Earth Defence Force!

This could also be 2009's answer to "how much shoddy gaming will be boys (and their little boys) put up with if a game has school girls and zombies".

Kujata:Dude... It's schoolgirls with little clothes and zombies. We're talking about GOTY stuff obviously.

tomjoadsghost : I've already seen the film (its easy enough to download online) and I immediately deleted it after watching. Think 'low budget horror with a story that contradicts the game, and a Japanese female lead who really isn't that sexy at all'.

As far as the game goes, I may download the demo to see if it might be worth a budget price, just for as laugh. If there's no demo, or if its full price, forget it.

Suprisingly Tecmo's Team Ninja is not behind this! Its a B game at best.
