No PS3 Trophies for Resistance or COD4
Ratchet & Clank also a no-no.
Insomniac has rather decided not to add Trophy support to PS3 games Resistance: Fall of Man and Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune will be getting the bronze, silver and gold reward system, though. Well, when Sony puts the firmware patch back up again.
"Currently, there are no plans to add Trophies to Resistance and Ratchet & Clank. Right now, our number one focus is finishing Resistance 2 and making it the best game possible," said Insomniac community watcher Bryan Intihar, echoing what CEO and president Ted Price told Eurogamer readers about Resistance in June.
Another game not hopping on the Trophy bandwagon is Call of Duty 4. Infinity Ward feels this feature, like rumble, arrived too late to be integrated in the game, and now it is busy doing other things - Call of Duty 6, maybe.
"At this time, we have no plans to patch in Trophy support for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the PS3. Much like DualShock rumble addition to the PS3, the support for these new features have come much to late for us to add it to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare due to our current production schedule," Infinity Ward told members on its official forum.
"We would have loved to have these in the game at launch if the support was available, or shortly after."
Trophies arrived alongside the in-game XMB in PS3 firmware update 2.4. This went live yesterday, but was soon recalled because it was breaking a "limited number" of PS3 machines.
Sony will be re-releasing it when everything is hunky dory.

Would rather just see the news like 'Yup we will do Uncharted' etc!

PS3 isn't the first console to have a bricking effect due to a firmware update, I lost one of my 360's to an MS update. Either way, everyone on my friends list is running 2.4 fine.

PS3 fanboys really are a thick bunch.
How about going and getting some Resistance or COD4 trophies instead of spouting nonsense?
Oh, wait...

Your whole post means nothing since you used that word, you're just blindly defending the PS3 for no reason. It's a black box full of computer chips. It's not going to give you a blow job if you praise it out of your ass daily... get a grip.
PS3 is obviously not the first ANYTHING to have a bricking effect. Do you know how many other bits of hardware in the world use firmware? A shitting lot, thats how many.
But that doesnt mean this shouldnt be posted. I'm sure there are lots of PS3 owners who arent glued to the internet constantly, that havent got the update yet. Maybe they're at work, or at school, or whatever, and they're just now checking a few gaming sites.
This is newsworthy. Would you rather everyone ignored it, and just let it go unsaid? It's an issue, obviously, otherwise Sony wouldnt have taken the update down.

I mean, there were games, that came out way earlier than CoD4, yet they did have (unpatched) DS3 support from day one. The libraries sure are the same as for the DS2 back in PS2 days...
Not that I really care, I bought a DS3 from Yesasia for 38€ incl. shipping (instead of yesterday for 60€), but rumble really is unecessary, even in GT5 or MGS4...

Writing rumble into a game has to be planned from day one as you need to tie the effect to actions (not unlike sound is tied to gun fire etc. etc.). It's not a huge task but, it can be very time consuming to retro fit it. It's also a thankless job and I suspect no-one at infinity ward was up for it.

Yeah I'll just have to settle with Resistance's skill points WHICH UNLOCKS CHEATS IN-GAME.

Is there a cheat to make it a better game?

Ratchet and Clank also has an achievement system which could probably be easily turned into trophies. Obviously not gonna happen though.

Resistance 2 with trophies will be just fine. I'm ok with mostly only new games having trophies since you need to replay a lot of stuff anyway. There are a few titles that will benefit a lot from them though or are a very natural fit. Uncharted obviously wanted to put them in from the first moment.
Will be interesting how these trophies are now going to show up in Home.

They basically wont. I mean look at it this way..
Sony announced Home to great fanfare, showing off trophy rooms in your houses with specific game-related figures etc in them...
Home got delayed...
Home got delayed...
Home got delayed...
Sony now say that Home is going to be launched like GMAIL (ie constantly in Beta)
Now look at how trophies are actually implemented in the XMB.
Basically, anything you've heard about Home from Sony - ignore it. It pretty much isnt going to happen.

Still there are many people that believe in Sonys marketing. I wonder why.

MS promises nothing, and delivers it (for a small monthly fee)
It has been said that Uncharted already has an achievement-like checklist in the game, but this is true of Ratchet as well - every insomniac game since either spyro 1 or 2 has had skill points (though unsure of resistance now I come to think of it) - its a real shame that they couldnt take a moment to convert these to Trophies, as I'm sure as hell not downloading super-retarded-top-down-shootar-HD just to see what they're like.
Ho-hum

I think youre wrong. I know gamers that bought CSI just to get achievements (pretty crazy imo). The trophy system will certaintly increase the sales of games that include them.

Yeah, I can tell you've never worked in software development before. In fact, I doubt you've ever worked at any level of responsibility in a successful profit-making business.
