No FFXIII 360 for Japan: it's official

Literally dozens left disappointed.

It's been confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII will not be released for Xbox 360 in Japan.

That's according to an article in Dengeki PlayStation magazine, as translated by Kotaku.

Game director Motomu Toriyama is quoted as saying, "There will absolutely not be an Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII for Japan," which is hard to misinterpret.

As yet there have been no reports of rioting in the streets, though several Japanese Xbox 360 owners are said to be "disgruntled".

As previously reported, Final Fantasy XIII PS3 will be released in Japan next year. A multi-platform version will follow for the US and Europe.

Don't think Japanese RPG lovers have any game shortages on 360 anyway.

Awwwww, you took the piss out of the 360 in your sub header.
Sony bias, Sony bias. Yep, you're definitely being paid off by Sony.

Ahhh, just wanted to see what it felt like, PS3 owners tend to do it a lot on here.
To be honest, it was shit.

Heh. It's probably missing out on no more than about 150,000 - 250,000 potential sales there. A drop in the ocean for FF sales figures, comparatively speaking.

Still, it must have cost Sony quite a few million to keep it exclusive there. I would rather they instead put the money into developing The Legend of Dragoon 2 for PS3, or another big first-party RPG.

I doubt anyone in Japan who owns a 360 doesn't have a PS3 too anyway

    What a truly odd decision.

Japan being RPG Land and the Xbox 1 struggling over there (dunno how 360 is doing), this seems bizarre.

Considering that, due to the release of Tales of Vesperia, you can't get your hands 360 in Japan for love nor money this is a very odd decision

Perhaps they'll be able to import and set their region to Japan or something...

250k * 50 € = 12,5 million € in sales. I doubt any company would walk away from that without a very good reason.

This may well be it. Major JRPG exclusives have given the 360 a boost in the past, but in the multiplatform stakes the PS3 would probably stamp it flat. SE presumably figure it's not worth the additional outlay to get a 360 version ready on time...

250k - (those who own a PS3 as well + those who wouldn't buy it) = not very many

They are porting it to xbox purely for north american xbox penetration. Teehee, i said penetration.

Not a lot of people know, that in his early days, Bill Gates traveled throughout Europe.

While in Romania in the sixties, he crossed teh path of an old gypsy woman, and in his youthful arrogance, told her to move out of his way. The gypsy woman cursed him, in her own words 'from this day henceforth, as sure as the sun rises in east, you shall see no success in the land of the rising sun'

    and lo and behold......
  • OfficialBlue #23 4 years ago

Well considering the 360 hasn't reach a million yet its not surprising... lol

its understandable as there are not that many 360 users in japan, and most of the FF fans who would buy it, would already get it on the console that has it released first.

though i did run into the dozen Japanese 360 owners in one squad on battlefield bad company last night, all 12 of them. seems like they are getting the hang of this western FPS thing after all. they totally gun raped me.

    I'm in Japan I don't own a PS3. And I'm p*ssed off by this news.
I just hope the US 360 version will be multiregion or that there will be an Asian NTSC-J compatible version.
Otherwise I will get a PS3 just to be able to play this.
  • SpyroViper #34 4 years ago

Just get a PS3 anyway. They aren't expensive.
