Nintendo not doing DSi launch event

Hardware is evolution, not replacement.

Nintendo has told Eurogamer there will be no official DSi launch event because the handheld is an evolution of the hardware - and not a replacement.

Nevertheless, a spokesperson told us 200 GameStation stores are opening at midnight this Thursday along with 55 GAME outlets and select HMV stores.

The DSi comes equipped with bigger and brighter screens, two cameras, more onboard Flash memory, an SD memory card slot, better Wi-Fi support and minor aesthetic nips and tucks. The DSi costs GBP 149.

    lololololololoolololol. No.

I'm gonna be on holiday, so I'll get it there (if it's PAL), or just wait till I get back.

They know full well they don't have to actively sell the thing, it'll fly off the shelves thanks to previous marketing and it being the new incremental upgrade. Not that I mind, I'll probably have one myself.

It's not enough of an evolution for me to replace my Lite at the moment, however if the DSi Shop games prove interesting and compelling in time then I'll consider it.

If this is true why the hell multiple games sites have articles about Nintendo phasing out the Nintendo Pearl White and Onyx DS?

not a replacement despite the fact DSi games won't work on old DS's? yeah ok.
