GTA PSP delayed to Nov 4th News

PSP News by Kristan Reed

24 October, 2005

November 4th is the new European release date for Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, it has been confirmed today.

Rockstar's hugely-anticipated PSP-exclusive had been due for release this Friday, the 28th October, but has now been forced back seven days for reasons as-yet unconfirmed.

The game's UK distributor Gem confirmed the news to Eurogamer today, and admitted it had only just received confirmation itself this lunchtime.

It is not yet known whether the European slip will have any effect on the game's US release date, which at the time of writing is expected to be tomorrow, the 25th October.

Should the game remain on track in the US for this week, it's fair to say that import retailers will be enjoying a bumper weekend selling what is one of the most in-demand games of the entire year on any platform.

More news from Rockstar when we get it.

What was that? Europe gets shafted on a game release date again? Shocker! This is unheard of!

I bet the comment about firmware is correct.

It is all a bit late in the day though. eh? Not really cricket, is it Sony?

Good job I have a quite ridiculous number of games currently on the go.

No frod, both are very good guesses I'm sure, plausible to me anyway. Though it is so close to release I'd imagine that they'd have pressed the discs now so changing whatever's on them would be a bit of a >1 week hassle... I am not a distributor though.

Interesting thought Frod.

It would be the perfect title to bundle new firmware with - probably a must have title for a lot of people.

Oh well guess i'll have time to finish Shadow of the Solossus and SSX on Tour before its released.

Shame about it coming out on the same day as Resident Evil 4 though.

Which to play first??

Found this on the IGN page, looks like it needs a firmware upgrade.
"The only snag we ran into was due to one PSP which hadn't been updated with the recent Firmware 2.0 update."

Maybe Sony have changed it to require the new 2.5 "Moody Big Brother" firmware?
Bit late in the day for that though surely?

I Think the Official PS2 mag reviewed it (not sure if it's the US or UK one though) and they gave it 4.5/5

Must be a distribution issue then as 4.5/5 isn't bad at all.

Not for a non-Sony game. R* would tell them where to go since its their money thats at stake.

mattigan: you think this will slip another month?

Wouldn't suprise me, would be a tiny bit petty though.

Although I don't really care as I don't have a PSP or like GTA. . . .

IGN have a review up for it, so looks like the US release is still on for today!
9.0 overall and an editor's choice, maybe I will buy it after all...
Still can't seem to find a track listing - have I missed something?

gtanet are saying that they spoke to Rockstar UK and as far as they are concerned the October 28th date is still their target ... although they will not knwo for sure until it's in the shops ......

Sounds like they don't want to admit there is a delay.
