More GHII tracks confirmed

Guitar Heroes listen up.

Those of you waiting with bated guitars for news of Guitar Hero II's full tracklist now have a little bit more to go on thanks to an Australian promo event.

Over there, IGN reports, RedOctane revealed that Stone Temple Pilots' "Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart", Anthrax's "Madhouse" and Motley Crue's "Shout at the Devil" will be in the line-up.

That's on top of Black Sabbath's "War Pigs", Butthole Surfers' "Who Was in My Room Last Night?", KISS' "Strutter", Rush's "YYZ", Reverend Horton Heat's "Psychobilly Freakout" and Van Halen's "You Really Got Me", all of which were mentioned prior to E3.

Guitar Hero II is due out in November in the US on PS2, and rumours persist that other versions (primarily Xbox 360) are on the way at some point in the future.

    need - this - NOW!

Not looking good to me :( Seeing as I don't like metal music, I loved the fact that the first game was more varied. This seems a bit too narrow. Time will tell though.

tfatf: I had the exact opposite view at first, but I grew to love all the tracks over time. But I agree, a little more variety in the tracklisting would always be nice.

    Wishlist:

Layla, with the slide solo at the end.
    Communication Breakdown,
Seven Nation Army, or some similar White Stripes,
And Boom Boom would be awesome. :-)
  • OllyJ #6 6 years ago

    Madhouse Effin A!!!

now a bit of Mastodon please!! or Maiden...
  • nickthegun #7 6 years ago

    X360 version please!

I hope the rumours do more than persist....
  • kalel #8 6 years ago

Hmm, I was hoping the tracks would be a bit more commercial to be honest. GnR and stuff, or more classic with more Jimi and Led Zep. Stuff 'normal' people know basically. Maybe they are holding those back for the 'edition' ones. I'd give my arm for a 'Power Ballad Edition', although that would hamper my solos...
  • coojam #9 6 years ago

Oh for the love of God where's Guns N Roses?!?!?! They should do more classic rock anthems than this grunge n metal garbage. No offence.
  • Rociel #10 6 years ago

I agree that there are too many metal songs on there. They should add some variety. Some Sonic Youth would go down rather well.
  • Stickman #11 6 years ago

I agree with tftf. The beauty of the last one was stuff like Bowie, Boston, Texas Flood and the like. This is looking a bit too 'devil's horns' to me.
  • OllyJ #12 6 years ago

well that's only what 10 out of 30 tracks, untwist your knickers, I'm sure there will be plenty variety.
  • Stickman #13 6 years ago

    /twists Olly's knickers.
  • vegard #14 6 years ago

i'd hate to start some kind of elitist debate here, but come on...most of those songs don't qualify as "metal", so i don't know what you're complaining about:)

now, if the scandinavian version includes immortal, darkthrone, gorgoroth and a church-burning minigame, i'm sold.
  • neuroniky #15 6 years ago

I've got no complain on the tracklist, not after seeing the great tracklist from GH1. And who cares about the tracklist... I'm going to play this to death anyway.

    /bragging mode on

Reached Guitar God status on Hard Difficulty, and Guitar Legend status on Expert difficulty... currently working my way thru expert songs to grab Guitar God status here too... I guess I can still wait some time before getting GH2...

(/me crashes his guitar in anger after getting another 4 star on Bark at the Moon)

... or maybe not, I just need it now or I'll get crazy soon :D

    /bragging mode off

    ;D
  • neuroniky #16 6 years ago

@vegard: I want Marduk, Emperor, Enslaved, Cradle of Filth, At the Gates, Death (boy just think about how fast your hand has to be to play a Death solo!!!), and for easy difficulty some nice and heavy band like Six Feet Under, Machine Head (the old ones, not the new nu-metal ones), Cannibal Corpse and Deicide.

Boy, I would end up crashing my eardrums playing a game like that all night long...

... oh, and Crimson by Edge of Sanity, in its full 40 minutes madness, would be the Le Mans of Guitar Hero.........
  • Carpathian #17 6 years ago

I'd like Opeth "Demon of the Fall"

    Yes, it's metal.

    Yes, I'm probably being elitist.

    Yes, I know it's a vain hope.

(Right, that's most of the obvious comebacks dealt with then)
  • jimmyjimbob #18 6 years ago

Kinda disappointed with that lineup, hope they've got a lot more up their sleeves than that!
  • Tricky #19 6 years ago

I played on War Pigs and Who Was In My Room At Night? at E3. War Pigs is about five million minutes too long and I ended up getting annoyed with it. Who Was In My Room At Night? was superb though - great tune.

Agreed that they're definitely getting too elitist with the track listing though. Still, give it try though, eh? I hadn't heard of some of the tunes on GH and I love nearly all of them now.
  • Zomoniac #20 6 years ago

GnR aren't featured because they're the most painfully awful, overrated band of all time and anyone who can hear tone cannot bear to listen to that retarded whiny titwank who apparently 'sings' for them, and 'sings' I mean 'squeals and screams like a cat being castrated by a tank, only without the notes'.

Zepp, Hendrix, RATM, Radiohead (Just would be ace), SOAD, Derek & The Dominoes (Have You Ever Loved A Woman please, not Layla, the riff is fantastic but after the song kicks in on 30 seconds it becomes awful), Pink Floyd (Shine On part 1, the only song I could play for 13 minutes and not get bored of), more Queen, maybe some Pumpkins (Jellybelly would kill people, ace!). Basically anything that isn't pop-with-distortion-that-pussys-call-metal (Metallica, Maiden, GnR).
  • Riggers #21 6 years ago

Hah, they need Hangar 18 by Megadeth - I'd love to see the solo for that in Expert! :p
  • OllyJ #22 6 years ago

I don't think any of the "metal lovers" are being "elitist" though? Personally I want a good varied mix, including some metal.
  • ProtoformX #23 6 years ago

I would've thought that Red Octane would have been able to secure some more mainstream acts for the sequel after the sucess of the first and the obvious publicity it will give to any band in it.
I listen to metal, industrial, etc. myself, but I do agree that some lighter stuff would be a lot more fun to play - I can't get enough of The Loco-Motion on Donkey Konga. ;-D
  • TuftyMcTavish #24 6 years ago

I just hope that an XBox360 version isn't too far behind. I am getting more and more interested in this, especially with the multiple instruments for 'co-op' play???????
  • thefilthandthefury #25 6 years ago

I think the beauty of the first game was that even if you didn't like the music much, you still had a whole heap of fun. There was variety and the songs were perfectly chosen to make you feel like you really were a cheesy guitar god. This one doesn't seem like it's going to be that way.

I mean, my favourite bands are punk rock bands (Sex Pistols, Clash, X Ray Spex, Adverts, The Jam, Nips, etc) but I wouldn't want the game to be full of those at all. It just wouldn't be as fun. I like all kinds of other music though, so I'd like to see that in the game again.

Roots from Sepultura would be great... Spiders from SOAD would also be great :D
  • dcangel #27 6 years ago

Roots from Sepultura would be great...

It would. It'd also be a no-brainer because almost the whole track is one damn chord. ;)
  • fantabulo #28 6 years ago

I hope they release a classics edition some time. Or, fingers crossed, Frank Zappa edition or something. It's possible... actually no it isn't.
  • ali-uk #29 6 years ago

Anthrax? Excellent. Can't wait for this.
  • Cuke #30 6 years ago

its only a third of the track list released so far, and it would make sense to release the names of the tracks perhaps more angled towards the hardcore fan base to start with as they will be the ones hanging on every press release.
I expect (and hope) that once the full list gets relased there will be a much wider variety of songs on it and we're just getting fed the ones Red Octane thinks the hardcore fan base will be most interested in...

Like people have said on this thread, its all about fun, not so much if your fave artists are included... I mean I am as far from a 'Boston' fan as you can get, but I love playing 'More Than A Feeling' in GH1 cos it just feels 'right' and is a hell of a lot of fun! :)
