No Godfather on Nintendo

EA whacks those rumours.

A representative from Electronic Arts UK has confirmed to Eurogamer that, despite rumours to the contrary, there are currently no plans to release The Godfather on any Nintendo consoles.

The rumours emerged after some bright spark spotted that EA Italy had the game down as a GameCube, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS title on its website.

But EA told us that The Godfather will only be coming out on PC, PS2, PSP, Xbox and Xbox 360, and that's a fact. Ah well.

There's still no confirmation as to whether the game will feature Marlon Brando's voice - according to a report in the New York Times earlier this week, his constant wheezing during the recording session made his dialogue unusable. We'll keep you posted.

I'm sure us Nintendo fans will be crying into our beers for days, if not seconds.

Seriously, the reason I bought a cube was because I didn't WANT to play this kind of game.

Hey! You wanna fresh one EA?

    /slaps EA

Lol cube owners count yourself lucky.
  • chacha #4 7 years ago

and the cube is officially dead
even the xbox which is being superceded by the 360 gets backing from EA but not the poor cube.

You cube fanboys may say that its not such a great loss, but when one of the biggest publishers of video games ignores you something is seriously wrong

Come on now. Surely, if you don't want to play this kind of game nobody will force you to, even if it was released in GameCube.

It's not like non-Nintendo games sell on the GC anyway.

"but when one of the biggest publishers of video games ignores you"..

It would bother me.. if any of their games were worth playing :-)

A shame really, I honestly thought that in 2001/2002 and 2003, the GameCube was getting decent enough third party support although the latter year saw a small decline in sales and publishers fleeing Nintendo.

I have always, except from the N64 days when Rare dominated the console (in my opinion, even moreso than Nintendo themselves!), have thought that you simple buy a Nintendo console for the Nintendo software and it shows all the time.

Look at gamerankings for the support for Nintendo this year: one Capcom game, one Namco game, dozen or so EA games and a handful of Nintendo games. Very poor compared to the PS2 and Xbox.

There wasn't a Gamecube version planned in the first place. If the game is any good, I'll buy it for the PC or Xbox 360 if I buy one.

There's still no confirmation as to whether the game will feature Marlon Brando's voice They didn't make the poor bloke put golf balls in his mouth, with his breathing problems. Now that Brando is no longer with us, EA could claim that the stand in is really Marlon. :)

    EA Reluctant To Support Revolution?

In an interview with Famitsu, EA mention the Revolution will not be their main focus next-generation...

Talking to Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, EA Vice-President David Gardner recently said that the Xbox 360 and PS3 would be the consoles getting the main force of EA's support next-generation.

What exactly this means for the Revolution is at this stage unknown, with a possible continued trend of EA just giving Nintendo ports of releases from other platforms speculated. Certainly, EA will be supporting the Revolution to a degree, but at this point exactly how much is now unclear.

I ripped this from Gamecube Europe.

If nintendo is beeing too revolutionary with theyr new designs this might be the price to pay. It will make life harder for developers... A shame really, i'm going for 360 and revolution no matter what... I'm so fed up with all the bullshi* from sony, they still haven't kept half of theyr promises for the ps2... And i can't see why the ps3 will be any different

I know I am an old fart, but I want a console for a bit of fun. I'm not bothered about how many wizz-o-flops it can do, I just want to switch on an play for a bit, not for bloody hours. So I still play my 64 the most because it's fast to set up, load and play. The game packs are tough and it dont bloody crash. I have a PS2 and I get really pissed off with loading times and crashes (apart from those in Burnout of course!). I'm really looking forward to the Revolution as I love old games and once downloaded in to memory they will play instantly - what joy!

That 360 does look good though, and if I can get a Miffy face plate for it....ummm!

    "EA Reluctant To Support Revolution?"

Another reason to get a revolution then? :-)
  • joey #14 7 years ago

Well I had one of the frist ones and that was hopeless, I now have a new silver one (not the new new small one) and it's much better, but Burnout 3 does crash (i'm about 90% thought the game and thats when it started) Baldersgate 1 and 2 also glitch.

I have noticed PS2's crash when u insert toast with jam into the tray like my nephew did. The PS2 just did not like games after that.....mmmm jam

Not losing anything with this game. Won't be buying this for PS2, and wouldn't buy it for Cube even if it was released for it. And chacha, there is plenty of games coming; LoZ being probably the biggest name (Fire Emblem and for some the coming 3D-Pokemon RPG is a big game, isn't a real Kirby adventure coming too for Cube). Who cares about EA's GTA copy.
