Another Konami shooter.

A week after Microsoft announced it was still busy crunching its way through the last throes of certification, Konami's appropriately named Scramble has made it onto Xbox Live Arcade.

Another port by Digital Eclipse, Scramble is a horizontally scrolling shmup from the early '80s, and the Live Arcade version features the usual enhanced artwork option, versus and multiplayer modes, leaderboards and achievements.

There's a trial version, obviously, and the full game will cost you 400 Microsoft points, or Ł3.40. It's just 23.50MB in size, and available in all regions.

I used to have a little home unit with a side scrolling shooter called scramble. Used to play it for hours. Wonder if it is the same game?

Anywhere I can see video of it?

Will try the demo and wait and see. I did used to really enjoy this game, wonder what it will be like once the rosey tinted spex are removed?

Used to love this, but kinda preferred Super Cobra (again by Konami I think).

Which was essentially the same game

Wonder if that'll be available soon on XBLA?

Probably not - Super Cobra was basically Scramble 1.1

Same graphics, same engine, just a helicopter and some slightly different levels.

Oh, and the objective was to 'Carry Away Booty'...

To be allowed to make games for XBLA you need to provide certain number of things such as some degree of online play (even if it's just a leaderboard), gamer points, etc etc etc.

I must admit that I have a soft spot for Scramble (or Rocket Raid as Acornsoft would have it, back on the BBC B).

However, playing the demo of this, I couldn't bring myself to pay more than a quid for it.

And where does that 25 meg go?

Another classic game for XBLA, now prepare for:

1) Whining about fucking Lumines. Jesus H, just buy a PSP and STFU?
2) Whining from the anti-retro tardalliance - who are forced at gunpoint to purchase. Apparently. STFU.
3) Whining from people who think that Ł4-ish is still a lot of money. See how far it gets you down the local chippy, and then STFU.

Thanks Konami - I always liked this game, the new graphics are actually pretty good, and it was a fair price. You got my pocketchange.

Wow this game brings back memories, I played in a pub when I was about 8 sipping on a coke. Good times. I might have to pick this game up.
