No Oblivion expansion yet

White Stallion reports denied.

Bethesda Softworks has denied reports that it's developing an expansion pack called Knights of the White Stallion for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Earlier this week US retailer Gamestop posted a page claiming a PC expansion of that name would be released on November 21 for $19.99.

But that's not the case, Bethesda eventually admitted. "There's no expansion in development called Knights of the White Stallion. That's the name of a quest in Oblivion," PR and marketing man Pete Hines told GamersReports.

"Right now we have no announced plans for any new content, add-ons, or expansions. If that changes, we'll let folks know."

In other words, no to this one, but they're not denying the idea outright.

Of course, if you've just bought Oblivion and feel like you need some more content (it's only gigantic after all), you can always have a poke through some of Bethesda's downloadable content updates.

360 owners can find them all listed on Xbox Live Marketplace at various prices while PC owners can buy them from OblivionDownloads.com.

    Still waiting for the patch.....
  • Ryuken #2 6 years ago

    Better wait for this instead.

They kind of screwed themselves and raised expectations with the huge scope of the original.

If they wanted to release an expansion pack now, it'd need to have a hell of a lot of content if they want to charge more than £10.

Erm, there already is a patch.

Mind you, im still waiting for a 2nd patch to speed the thing up a bit, and not take 10 mins to load every time i open a door :-)

besides, who can genuinely say they've seen EVERYTHING there is to offer in oblivion, to the point that they'd want to purchase an expansion pack?
  • ChromeMud #6 6 years ago

I hope they patch the patch.I think the game ran better without the patch.
After my pet Atronach did a runner and broke my summoning altar,I got so upset that I went on a murdering rampage and to this day all that remains are quest characters which I torture each and every day!

The patch is not available in my country ( Spain).

well, now that you mention it, i've only collected 80 nirnroots so, yes, there's more for me to do in Oblivion...

Some people have too much time on their hands :-)

Im not very far in at all.. but that's probs because i spend most of my time getting bored waiting for areas to load that i just give up playing after a while.

I've put 70 hours into Oblivion and probably not even half done. haven't got any downloadable content, and have mainly avoided the random dungeons. I don't see why anyone would need MORE
  • smelly #11 6 years ago

I've been playing oblivion for (according to my save file) 10 hours.

I dont want/need more - as im already bored.

Quite possibly the dullest plot i've ever had to play thru on an rpg...And not to mention the times spent waiting for loads.. meh.. it's pretty, and it's big.. but then so am I - that's all it has going for it IMHO.

Sounds like you need a processor/RAM upgrade, not a patch. Try defragging too.

My pretty average gaming machine takes only 5-10 seconds to load a town.

I'm waiting for the Wild Stallyn expansion.

Yeah load times in Oblivion are pretty short for me... takes like 10 seconds the first time and about 5 seconds for everything else. My pc isn't even that shit-hot. Athlon 3500+, 1 gig of ram and a Geforce 7600GT. May I suggest that if you experience long loading times, your pc needs a upgrade?
  • skillian #15 6 years ago

Ditto, 5 second loading times when moving to a new indoor area, and no loading times at all when covering the whole entire world outdoors.

I think smelly is playing (or not playing) on an Xbox 360 though, where I hear loading times are a little longer.

I've got a 3ghz athlon (admitidly not best money can buy.. but), 1 gig ram, radeon x800 pro, and a fast harddisk.

none of my other games have problems.. i might try turning detail down.. At least its not as slow as on my mates 360 (core system) - that takes months to load!

Wow, turn that 3.0 Athlon into a 2.8 P4 and you've pretty much got my exact system. So I can tell you pretty confidently the load times you're experiencing aren't typical.

    Might wanna try a reinstall.

I hadn't played Oblivion for a good 4 months but got back into it a few days ago and I'm totally hooked again. If I sit back and think about it, I can come up with plenty of negative comments, but it's just so damn compelling and so beautiful. I'm about 40 hours in, so won't be needed the expansion quite yet!

Loading times for me are pretty much non existant I'd say. 3 seconds going through doors - 3000+ GF6800GT

Probably not a bad idea, especially as in another thread you said you get around 15fps most of the time.

Having put 120 hours into Oblivion, I don't really feel the need for more of the same.

I'd rather they focussed on writing something new, rather than flogging this dead horse.

I reeally didn't see the point of the downloadable content either, for much the same reason.
  • yagisencho #21 6 years ago

I've played Oblivion for 100+ hours smelly, so that would be me. I completed the main quest, all guild quests, and many, many, many side quests. I'd like an expansion please.
  • Helios #22 6 years ago

I bet half the package is just of all the downloadable crap that but on a disk for people with the internet.
  • Subquest #23 5 years ago

I've finished the thieves guild quests and yesterday I finished the main quest, but half of my map of cyrodil is still unexplored. Still got most of the fighters guild/mages guild/dark brotherhood/daedra quests to do...(not to mention many miscellanious quests) and I've been playing for weeks on and off!
