Ghost Recon X360 delayed

Until February.

Ubisoft is "pleased to announce" that Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter is getting another few months in development, putting the Xbox 360 version in shops next February.

The delay is partly down to a desire to get it right, and partly so that the development team can optimise the game to run nicely on Microsoft's next console - for which it's one of the most highly anticipated new games.

Ubi's being very upbeat about the whole thing, weirdly, with Ubisoft North America's Tony Kee talking about how "intense" the multiplayer's going to be, among other things.

"X05 attendees experienced the stunning results of the work Ubisoft's award-winning studios have done in perfecting innovative multiplayer content and taking advantage of next-generation capabilities," he said. Although he left out the part about X05 attendees having to battle against hordes of drunken partygoers and insane noise to get anywhere near the pods.

We'll have more on Advanced Warfighter in the near future.

  • Huntcjna #2 7 years ago

Does this affect the normal xbox version too then?

Although its disappointing I would rather not have it rushed out in time for launch. Anyway just got summit strike so that should keep me busy until GR3 eventually arrives.

It still doesn't actually MEAN Feb though... It just means it will not be any earlier...

  • brainbird #5 7 years ago

Increased chances that Summit Strike gets donloadable content perhaps?

That pushes my buying the 360 back to February also then... Damn!

So this one didn't get through certification?

No problem.. I rather have a nice solid game.... and this way I have something to buy after XMas ;)

    > This is still not gonna look as good as the E3-trailer.

Oooohhh.. reality strikes! Here is some breaking news. NOTHING will look as good as the trailers (well except PS3 stuff of course.. the *real* next gen).

Quake 4 looks like it's getting poor write-ups too...

    /is sad.... REALLY sad...
  • onyxbox #10 7 years ago

so what *is* worth playing at launch for the 360.

    Kanmeo ? Shees.

I've got a feeling the 360 launch will be a mixed bag: lot's of people will buy it but they'll be starved of good games by the looks of things... I'm starting to consider cancelling the pre-order now.

Djini - where have you read poor write ups about Q4? The only one I've read so far seemed quite positive. Can you supply linkage please?
  • trevd72 #12 7 years ago

what the hell is going to be out? i have PGR3 and call to duty down for pre-order now, am i likely to get these?
  • PES_Fanboy #13 7 years ago

The games won't look as good as the high-def E3 trailers when you play them on your 28" Bush TV. What a shocker.

In other news, the sun came up this morning, and is expected to stay there until this evening.
  • kewny #14 7 years ago

Shud be OK with those Trevd72. Both have been confirmed as launch titles apparently. PGR3 at X05 by microsoft and I think the call of duty 2 announcement was on gamespot news the other day. There was nothing announced by ubisoft at that time which was a bit ominous anyway if you ask me, so I wasnt surprised TBH.

Oh and whats with the news title "ghost recon X360 delayed" ? Shouldnt it be just "ghost recon 3 delayed" as all platforms are affected. Sounds like more anti-X360 speak to me!!!!! ;)

"We finally listened to all the negative comments aimed at R6 Letdown (Lagdown, Lockup, etc), and we're trying to turn it back into a proper game before release."

    Well maybe? ;-)
  • Gruff #17 7 years ago

They took extra time to turn R6-Lockdown into shite as well.
  • Daftness #18 7 years ago

How much of this is down to technical reasons and how much is down to Ubisoft manipulating release dates (Again) to corner the market while not competing with their other release title!!!!

This is by no means the first time a title has suddenly slipped back when it was scheduled to release at the same time as another of their's!!!
