New Perfect Dark content tagopt_brief-feature_type-

Microsoft's released the first round of downloadable content for Perfect Dark Zero - although fans will have to wait a bit longer for those promised premium maps.

For now we've got new bots - available in DarkOps multiplayer games as well as deathmatch, and split into various new AI flavours, outlined in our previous item.

Meanwhile Microsoft and developer Rare have also sprung a few welcome bug-fixes, preventing people floating through the air, repeatedly capturing flags, receiving positive points for team-killing and going out of bounds on the Desert map, as well as sorting out some ranked-game balance issues, getting melee kills to register properly and making sure achievements unlock when they're meant to.

It's also sorted out some crash bugs, which is handy. Expect more from the Perfect Dark Zero team in the next few months.

I'm presuming this content will be free?

God, a few years ago I wouldn't even have to ask that question. Whats the world coming to! I feel sorry for 360 owners who just can't resist buying new Eldar Scrolls content.

Aye sucks to be used to FREE MODS for years and years with the PC and then suddenly you have to pay for it just because someone realises people will pay.

Aye official.

But what says official is BETTER?

Best mods for quake were free and not made by id Software.
Best mods for Halflife also were free and not made by Valve.
Best mod for Bf1942 also was free and not made by Dice.

Same for Oblivion, balancing mods that change the game so all the silly things are less evident.

I've got a feeling more games will do exactly that. User-created content that can be sent to other players. Might charge for it though.

Far cry instincts for the xbox 360 has a map creator that allows you to share your creations via xbox live.

Official add ones used to be free aswell. Map packs, characters, vehicels, all used to be free.
Then the publisher found out you could milk the customer for even more then the already high price of the game itself and it was all over.

Some of those Quake and Quake 2 mods were awesome.

Playing against Daleks, Pikachu and Humphrey Bogart was great fun.

I hate the thought of buying 90 percent of a game thinking it is the whole game, but then being told I need to buy the final 10 percent in 4 pound increments every update for the next 2 years. Heres hoping that Sony and Nintendo aren't so greedy with basic updates. I mean I would understand if it was like a whole expansion up for download, but extra horses, multiplayer levels and such!?! So what, if you don't pay then you don't play online with those levels?!?? It's criminal.

Patches are always free. As for the premium content, no1 forces you to buy it.

You dont have to have a premium account to dl stuff and you could also dl patches from the ms site and burn it.

Sony & Ninty might offer more free content, but just like the start of the live network, they will have to establish themselves. You do that by attracting ppl with free content. And besides, i dont think that we have anything to complain about free content as the majority of all content is free.

lol - "free content"? Sounds much more like a major bug-fix patch with the bots thrown in as a sweetener for the punters.
What amuses me is they probably held back the patch so they could put the bots in - to avoid the negative publicity of openly releasing is just as a patch.

Tried the bots in dark ops and they play a pretty good game, adds a whole new element to the multiplayer :)
