BattleZone for PSP

This November.

Atari's announced plans to bring a modern update of BattleZone to PSP this November.

Paradigm Entertainment's developing it, and it promises a decent mix of single and multiplayer - but the emphasis appears to be on team-play, with four-player Wi-Fi high up on the agenda.

You'll take control of hover tanks in close combat scenarios, as you'd expect, with eight customisable team vehicles, unlockable weapons, vehicles and upgrades.

Extra content will be made available through the game's website too, including an online level builder tool - results can be transferred to PSP via PC-USB.

Multiplayer-wise, in all there'll be six modes - DM, CTF, TDM, Hotzone, Knockout and Fox and Hound. We don't know what Fox and Hound is but it's almost certainly not a Disney licence, because that film was rubbish and a total letdown after the Lion King.

But Fox and Hound came out 13 years before Lion King...

Game sounds good though. Hope the map editor is good.

    Hopefully

    1. there'll be vector graphics as at least an option or mod. Yes I do own a Vectrex, and own the LCD binocular tank game.

    2. It'll come out on Nintendo - I dunno how likely that will be from an "Atari as Ninty-friendly publisher" view, or a "doesn't have colourful fluffy things" view.

Fox and Hound will just be one tank unarmed running for it's life with everyone else hunting it down, the longer they stay alive the more points they accrue. Then the next player becomes the fox and the cat and mouse game continues and whoever has the most survival points at the end of the round wins.

The description makes it sound like a direct copy of Hardware Online Arena (or the PSP version Fired-Up).

Remember when BazzleZone was remade for the PC years ago? I hope it's like that as I quite enjoyed that game.
