Silent Hill DVD out in August
Blu-Ray version also coming.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that the Silent Hill movie will be out on DVD, UMD and Blu-Ray this summer.
All three versions are due to arrive in US shops on August 22nd, with the DVD priced at $28.95 (£16ish). It includes special features such as a six-part production diary - you'll get to learn all about the origins of Silent Hill, the casting and set building processes, the movie's stars and the stunts they had to do, and how those crazy creatures were brought to life.
There's no word on what special features you can expect from the Blu-Ray edition - but they have announced it'll set you back $38.95 (£21). And, of course, you'll need a spanky new Blu-Ray player to watch it, unless you're waiting for the PS3 to arrive in November.

I didn't think it was terrible. Just average.
But then, I still have Alone in the Dark echoing in the halls of my mind... Silent Hill is an oscar-winning epic in comparison...
It's just a question of angles...

Sorry, I'll stop going on about it now.

I enjoyed it for what it was and I loved it for the camera angle cameos and PH-chan.

One of the better horror films of recent years though (first Saw was pretty good aswell).

I thought it was a fantastic film that stuck to the game material for a lot of stuff. Using the game music was genius. The only dodgy parts of the film were Sean Bean's, that felt a little tacked on and unnecessary. SH has certainly been the closest to sticking to the core material, whereas other adaptations will abandon most storylines, characters, music and imagery, SH sticks to it.

Aye - SB was tacked on as they thought it needed some male roles injected into an all female cast.
Out of interest, why didn't people like it? My guess is if you hate the SH games then you'll hate the film. For all intents and purposes, it WAS SH1, including alot of shot-for-shot scenes. I'm a HUGE silent hill fan, and i liked it.

Bluray though, even though it will be a collectors edition when Bluray falls flat on its arse like Betamax, I just can't afford to spend money on a bluray movie.
Or a bluray player, when I already have a dvd player and HD dvd lined up

Certainly not the worst horror film I've seen though. In comparison to Resi Apocalypse and other titles, SH creams the competition. On the standard of other films... hmm. It's average at best.
But note I said "average", not "shit".
