New Indiana Jones game confirmed News

PlayStation 2 PSP DS Wii
News by Ellie Gibson

2 February, 2009

It's official - a new Indiana Jones game is currently in development.

That's according to US magazine Nintendo Power. As reported by Kotaku, this month's cover features our hero and confirms the name of the game is Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings.

Apparently you'll be able to "crack the whip, dodge traps, solve puzzles" and, most excitingly, "throw an octopus" in the new game. It's being developed for Wii, DS, PS2 and PSP.

Little else is known about the game so far, and there's no word on a release date. You can always check out the trailer which popped up last week, though.

Strong rumours that it has been cancelled, I think, nothing official.

More octopus throwing is needed in games. That's what I've always said and finally they are listening.

that was officially denied by lucasarts, they confirmed a 2009 release. and they better keep their word, cause if i don't get a decent indy game soon, somebody's gonna get the whip. it's been way too long since The Fate Of Atlantis

Looks like they've developed two different games, for higher- and lower-powered platforms. That or they decided that the costs outweight the benefits of working on Xbox/PS3. I'm amazed to see western developers still working on major releases for the PS2 - is it down to the Wii & PS2 sharing similar capabilities and middleware?

Are you quite sure? All I can find is some semi-denial/generic "commited to the franchise" statement, but not really a confirmation that it's still in development, let alone a release date.

UncleLou is quite correct - they haven't denied anything. If the 360/PS3 version still exists it likely will not be coming out for a long time, or has been outsourced to another development. Either way, this version is first.

I think they're waiting for the inanity of 'nuking the fridge' to dissipate from peoples' minds before stepping back up to the PS3/360 plate. ;)

Clearly the PS3 version will be superior to the 360 cos it can devote an individual C3LL CPU to each octopus leg ...
