Namco hints at Tales of Vesperia 2
Even the staff are asking for one.
Namco Bandai has revealed that there is serious consideration for making a sequel to Tales of Vesperia, a well-received JRPG that appeared on Xbox 360 (and will soon be on PS3).
Publisher general manager Makoto Yoshizumi said even staff had asked after a follow-up instalment, to which he replied: "Don't talk like a fan!"
"It appears that [within the company] there's a desire to make part 2," he then admitted, according to andriasang (via VG247).
Yoshizumi was speaking at a Q&A session after the theatrical release of Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike in Japan. He hinted that a film sequel wasn't out of the question, either.
Add an enhanced PS3 port of Tales of Vesperia to those plans (European date TBC), and Namco Bandai clearly has big plans for the IP.

Question, apart from the new pirate girl playable character. is there anything else new on the PS3 version ? I recently bought a PS3 and I am thinking about which games I will need to re-visit on PS3

LOL! you obviously were playing the game completely wrong!

probably.. it was the cut scenes that did my head in, having to advance them by pressing a button was too much for me.

that bit is annoying. I will give you that.

But as for the rest of the game, by far the best JRPG on 360 so far. Better than Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata and Lost Odyssey, and MUCH better than Star Ocean (zzzzzz) and Infinite Undiscovery.
Not sure why, but for me it makes a huge difference not to have a protagonist who is a whiny 12 year old. Even though Yuri is a bit of a mug, even just having an actual male adult doing this voice makes it approximately 600% less irritating.

I hope not. Not that I don't own a PSP, but still.

More of the game is voiced. There were big chunks of the 360 one left unvoiced due to space constraints. There's two new permanent characters - Patty, the pirate girl, and also Flynn becomes a permanent, customisable party member. The plot has been enhanced, new side-quests added, new cutscenes added, big chunks of the game reworked to improve them and to allow for Patty to interact with everyone rather than just making her feel like a tacked-on extra. The actual core plot is expanded. Extra attacks, skills, etc. Ability to skip cutscenes. A bundle of extra side content like new costumes. Also apparently there's some kind of connectivity with the PSP Tales of VS game, dunno what that entails exactly.
Also there's the fact that being on PS3 means it's on Bluray, so there should be no way that Namco can argue they lack space to make an english-language version with dual language options (i.e. English and Japanese dialogue options) for the weaboo crowd.
All this is why all the owners of the game on 360 in Japan have been whining about how they ended up as Namco's beta testers. The new content is pervasive enough that it couldn't be patched into the 360 release as DLC, either.
