MS offers Halo 3 reassurance

Says entire first shipment of Crackdown features invites.

Microsoft has reassured gamers worried about not finding a Halo 3 beta invitation in their copy of Crackdown.

"The initial shipment of Crackdown at retail will include access to the Halo 3 beta," a spokesperson wrote on Gamerscoreblog. "The 'initial shipment' is pretty huge, so there will be enough to go around."

And yes, that does include UK versions of the game.

It all reminds us a bit of Zone of the Enders 2, really: truckloads of gamers chomping at the bit to get their hands on one game so they can gain demo access to something else. Let's hope Real Time Worlds' effort can keep people satisfied as well as offering them a way in to another Master Chief runaround.

I was talking about this at work with my collegues, our sales of Crackdown are going to be so skewed no one will know if it's actually a popular game. I've not had a chance to play the demo yet so can't comment, but I've heard it's better than most people expected.

Still, RTW will have a big hit on their hands and they'll have to hope that they actually made a good game.

I'm really disappointed how many people will be in the beta to be honest. I secured my beta access a while back, but with tens of thousands being given away in competitions in addition to the Crackdown deal, it'll be as busy as any other Live game. And that's not a bad thing because I'm being elitist, but because some of my best online experiences have been with beta tests with only a few thousand involved (e.g. SOCOM, Moto GP)

It's also a shame that Crackdown will be remembered as the Halo 3 beta game, as it's good enough to be a million seller all on it's own, especially at this time of year.

Plyaying the demo all last night - managed to get full levels (hopefully can get higher in the full retail) on four of the abilities.

Have to say, it's a bonza game. If you played a big green character and didn't have the guns, it would be a smashing Hullk game (which is A Good Thing).

The fact you have guns and grenades and can drive cars just makes it infinitely more enjoyable.

And I can see the Live co-op making this game last way longer than any GTA game, to be honest - I've always been a fan of any game that lets me create my own kind of games with my mates, long after we've completed them.

    City-scape races has me salivating...

Halo 3 needs stress testing like no other console game in existance. Better they use the results of this beta to fix any problems caused by the probably huge uptake of online play than them having to fix the full version.

I'll be fucking pissed off if I can't find a copy of this because of the bloody Halo 3 beta.

Give me Halo 3 when the game is finished and released, but at least let me get a copy of Crackdown - a game I actually want believe it or not - without having it sold out because of greedy fuckers wanting to play a demo who are not actually interested in the game they bought. If this is sold out because a bunch of people have bought it without wanting it, I'll be FUMING.
