Metro PC buyers get Red Faction free

Guerrilla marketing.

THQ has announced that everyone who buys Metro 2033 for PC on launch day in the UK will also receive a free copy of Red Faction: Guerrilla.

The game is due out on PC and Xbox 360 on 19th March.

Red Faction: Guerrilla came out on PC (and console) last year. It "only" picked up 7/10 in our review but was still loads of fun, largely thanks to its brilliant destructible environments and openworld approach.

Metro, meanwhile, is a post-apocalyptic shooter with RPG and horror elements in which players have to fight through the Moscow metro tunnels.

Check out our extendsive Metro 2033 hands-on preview and our inside look at the technology behind the game, including exclusive videos, for more.

Yeah good stuff. Also for those who are interested RF G also has achievements. ;)

Yeah I looked at that deal, was tempted but holding off buying until I know the pad works on PC which I can't find info on (the GFW label means nothing with that).

Before you insecure people start I really want analogue movement on this one as it looks really creepy and scary.

I wish I'd got Guerilla RF for free, as I found it pretty crappy.

That is a pretty impressive offer...
I hope that if this works well, we can start to see more of the same.

is this only a Digital Download deal or can i get hardcopies?
  • matrim83 #6 2 years ago

@bad09 I am 99% sure the 360 pad works on it. They have shown off gameplay videos which they said were from the PC version and the guy was playing it with the 360 controller with all the on screen prompts corresponding to the 360 controller.

This is one game I'd definitely wait for the post-release demo on - too many Eastern European games are unplayably flaky on release.

    @ matrim83

Nice one that is great news, might do this pre-order deal now!

RF G has absolutely obnoxious DRM though so not really tempted. Buy it for console instead if you want to play the game as it's supposed to be played.

No mention of any third party DRM on the Steam store page, what is the DRM?

BTW if you buy it on Steam Red Faction is bundled with it for the Euro-zone too, any word on whether the offer applies in stores in the Euro-zone? Also, are they physical copies or a download code?

RF:G is ok but it's got some serious issues with modern machines so expect issues. What about us that already have it?
  • kearneybobs #12 2 years ago

Metro is priced at €49.99 on Steam here in Ireland. I WILL NOT be buying it on Steam (RIPOFF), but I most definitely will be buying it at retail, if this is the case over here.

@bad09 - yes, the PC has gamepad support - that's 100% confirmed by us

@matrim83 - I believe the only gameplay demos we've shown are from the 360 version...
  • bad09 #14 2 years ago

    @ Bi50N

Awesome, thanks for that confirmation I've been scouring the net trying to find out for ages! :)

    Game looks wicked BTW.
  • matrim83 #15 2 years ago

@Bi50N You guys lied to me. Or some random guy over at GAF did. :p

So all we have seen so far is Xbox 360 footage? Color me even more impressed.

Oooo sold and sold. That's the kind of deal to get me parting with my cash, Metro is £25 by itself on Play, so that's an entire fiver for another title I like. More like this please :)
You don't even have to wait for Metro to play RF:G either.
  • Sharzam #17 2 years ago

RF:G is fine as long as you patch it correctly, sure it is a pain in these live/steam updates days and a bit backwards but atleast it can work better than consoles.

7/10 for RF is fucking criminal. Fantastic game and really keeps the feel of the series.
