LittleBigPlanet pushed forward a week

Early-bird limited DLC confirmed.

Sony has pushed the release of LittleBigPlanet forward to 24th October (22nd for mainland Europe) - a week earlier than expected.

There will be a Sackboy Spaceman costume and rare T-shirt available to download from launch, but for a limited period of time only - a treat for the early birds.

Developer Media Molecule plans plenty of additional content for the future, and wants help from the fans when deciding what to make.

However, the online multiplayer version of the game's level-creation tool won't make it in for launch as originally promised, and will instead be added as a post-launch patch. Offline creation with up to four players will be supported in the launch version of the game.

Media Molecule will be running a limited public beta test for LittleBigPlanet this month, with more details on how to get involved expected nearer the time.

LittleBigPlanet is a charming platform game for up to four people and includes around 50 pre-made levels on the disc. Of course, the real talking point is the built-in toolset that enables the community to get involved by creating and sharing their own levels.

Online version not included at launch? I thought that was the USP of little big planet..

Is this the 'big' monday anouncement? Sorry if I am a little underwhelmed!

That's Fable 2, this and Fallout 3 al within a small period. Christ. Might leave this alone for a week or 2 and see the user response to it.

Is this a fullprice game btw?

Oh well, if co-op level creation isn't in at launch I won't feel so annoyed at not having a PS3 yet. dudefather and I need to get cracking on making amazing levels!

    No online co-op level creation?

That was one if the game's best sellings points IMO.. a shame to launch without it!!

It's strange this has moved forward to an even busier release date.
  • shinki #12 3 years ago

No biggie to me as I'll be doing most of my co-op creation offline. I reeeeaaally should get this preordered... was holding out for more UK pre-order bonuses but I guess they aren't coming.

Played this at the LBP store in Manchester. Definitely lots of fun, but the graphics don't look as good in real life as they have in videos (tearing and jaggies!) - although given the freedom you have to create what you like, the insane physics and that it was still a WIP version, I'm not too worried about that. Seems Sony are going all out on the marketing for this one though.

Bit of a shame to hear that the online co-op create mode won't be there at launch, but at least that gives me some time to get used to the creation side of things offline!

My fear for this game is that the price of entry will be too dear for it to achieve the mass market success it clearly is being aimed for. I hope I'm wrong, but 300 smackers isn't mass market territory.

    Nooo... :(

Hopefully what you saw was an OLD unfinished version!

@ designerheadache: hence why I said "and that it was still a WIP version". I'm sure they'll iron out the tearing before the final version, hopefully the jaggies too.

Yeah, but Sony could have a secret price drop up their sleeves. Well, if they have we should know by October, otherwise it'll be too late for the xmas shopping season.

i thought the release date was already the 24th??
  • Rash' #19 3 years ago

woodnotes, the hardware certainly needs a price drop for the game to reach as wide a demographic it so clearly deserves.

Okay, so does this mean that along with the UK getting SCREWED for yet another release date (they brought our hopes up with saying we'd be first)
That we will have much less chance of getting the tshirt? as most of us pre-ordered from play.com for the bonus gift chances are it wont come till monday
They better be making the shirts region specific ¬_¬ or atleast give the uk a bit of time to get them ¬_¬
