Last Remnant dated for PC

PS3 version still lost in fantasy land.

Square Enix has set a 20th March release date for The Last Remnant on PC.

The desktop version of the JRPG adds a choice of Japanese or English voice-overs, better character animations, and the option for multiple leaders to form unions.

We're told that gameplay will be faster during battles, too. Quite the claim. And one we hope extends to loading times.

But will any of this help Last Remnant improve on the Xbox 360 version that launched last November? We're not so sure, which is a shame, as the strategical elements under the hood are very accomplished.

Incidentally, there's still no word on a date for the PS3 version of Last Remnant. But we're checking this out with Square Enix now.

Head over to our Last Remnant review to read our thoughts.

I'm thinking of getting a new GPU for my PC and might actually invest in this rather than waiting around for a PS3 version.

    @ Widge

For real? Based on what I've read it doesn't really sound like a must-buy.

It's clear that Microsoft has something with this to do... why would it be released to both PS3 and PC first otherwise, and not a single word about the PS3 version? ;)

Say it ain't so! You believe that the nefarious Microsoft Money Hat could really have struck again? D: It continues its reign of terror!

I hope this sees the light of day on PS3 eventually. Even if it isn't the best JRPG this gen (I'd give that title to Valkyria Chronciles), it's better than nothing. Though I'd prefer a PS3 version of Star Ocean 4 than this TBH.

I don't think he meant there's a direct relation between upgrading his PC and buying TLR.

Why is this in the PS3 section? Isn't it about the PC, in the end?

I'm not getting a new graphics card just for THIS! I just got a new monitor and stuff like Left 4 Dead is having issues at full resolution. Considering jumping back into PC gaming anyway.

If you are on a budget and already have a reasonable PC then you can get a 4830 for less than £100 which should give better than the consoles, I got giddy and got a 1GB 4870 myself.

PS3 owners should be glad they're not suckered into this. It's freaking terrible.

PS3 shouldnt worry too much about missing this game, some great ideas but let down but horrible texturing pops in and overall design left a lot to be desired!

Still interesting that this is not appearing on PS3...would it be to do with?

    a) MS exclusive deal with Square-Enix which previously had a love-in with Sony and a percentage of company is owned by them?!!
    b) PS3 is a heck to program for and Square-Enix knowing the payback would be poor due to critical acclaim not given
    c) Other reasons?!

Well I am going to have to go against the flow and say I've enjoyed Last Remnant quite a bit despite the horrible slowdowns in battles. It just takes a LONG time to get better from the start. If they do a proper PC conversion and really add the option to speed up battles, it might become enjoyable to many more people. But you need to like turn based battles obviously.
