Konami doing Contra game for WiiWare
New title out in Japan tomorrow.
Konami has unveiled a brand new Contra game due for launch on the Japanese WiiWare store tomorrow. There are no European plans yet, a spokesperson for the publisher told us this afternoon.
Dubbed Contra Rebirth, the game retains the run/jump/shoot core and has at least one boss bigger that's bigger than the screen, according to Konami Japan's statement (spotted by Offworld). Other details are scarce.
The series begun on NES in 1987 and has appear on just about every other platform since. The action follows heroes Bill Rizer and Lance Bean, who fight off an alien invasion in sleeveless t-shirts and headbands.
Contra and Super Contra have both appeared on Xbox Live, but both turned out to be rubbish. Head over to our Contra and Super Contra reviews to find out more.

Doesn't seem that old to me ?

Also, I thought the series actually begun in the arcade and then was ported to NES (and other homemachines).
Nevertheless, nice to hear that. Contra 4 was nice, but always nice to see a proper 'big' Contra coming up.

I really hope this comes out on the USA shop but I can't see it not doing that TBH, since Contra 4 was given to a Western developer specifically to make it appeal to the US audience, where Contra has always been incredibly popular.
