Killzone 2 demo due at 5pm today
Plus: try out Halo Wars right now.
Sony has confirmed the Killzone 2 demo will be available later today.
"PSN updates vary, but hopefully around 5pm everyone should be able to download it," a spokesperson told Videogaming247.
You'll be able to explore two sections from the opening level, and try out the tutorial. The full game is out on 27th February, and it's a corker - read our review to find out why.
In the interests of anti-bias, and because it's lunchtime and we're too hungry to write two news stories when we could be making a sandwich, the Halo Wars demo is also out today. Right now, in fact - you can download it from Xbox Live.
Or, because you live in the Future, you can tell your computer to tell your 360 to download it via Xbox.com. Bet Judith Hann never saw THAT coming.

have hopes for Halo wars, as it's built from the ground up as a console RTS, rather than a port

don't know why they've announced a specific time, everyone will rush in at once and slow down the whole network.

Fancy explaining to those that don't understand how it works. How it works..!
Comment below viewing threshold Show
The advantage of this is that you can get home, press one button on the front of your 360 and the download will get going without you even having to turn on your TV.
You could I suppose press the poer button twice, once to turn it on and again 30 seconds later to put it into "finish downloading and then switch off" mode.
And give that said "half on half off" mode exists, I suspect it will only be a matter of time before remote boot is an option (when you do this with your PS3 it is never properly off but rather in a power saving mode, from which it can be booted remotely using a PSP, which is AWESOME btw

If it does switch it on, that is indeed awesome! If not, I Still think its rather pointless??

hope the multiplayer is good that is something that is awsome to test out when included in a demo (like res5 has !)
Comment below viewing threshold Show
Multiplayer is greyed out like the other options you cant select on my demo, although i did download it from the US using a european account but don't really think that would make a difference. Graphics are pretty amazing though and i have already shot a few helghasts.

That's a bit of a bore... every other game and Blu-ray I have is fine with RGB set to 'full' and my TV (Sony Bravia KDL-40W4500) definitely supports it.

A bore? How so? It's a simple fact, if your screen isn't showing the logo at all then it's not displaying the full range of colours & your blacks are being crushed. It might look fine to you, but you'll be losing detail in dark areas.

I'm not that impressed with controls, not sure if its the pad but I always find FPS's on PS3 don't play well. It's almost like playing with a dpad. There is analoge up/down/left/right and not much in between. It really tough to aim accuratly and make small movements, like there is a large deadzone.
And is no one else sick of macho marines, Halo, Gears, Turok, KZ full of macho marines with cheesy cringe worthy lines, its getting boring.
It's a solid enough FPS but not quite as good as the EG review makes it out to be.

Took 28 hours to download, but FOOK ME! Never seen anything like it. Not a big FPS fan either, but this is streets ahead of anything I've ever seen or played and it's a defnite first day buy. The AI is uncanny - I crept around the side of the APC that turns up halfway through the demo, shot one of the orange eyed b*stards, then the rest all turned and looked at me before opening fire. Something so simple, but rarely if ever done right. If Sony don't advertise KZ2 to the sky and back, they need their heads examined.
It reminds me of when wipeout3 came out for the PS1, or Burnout 2 for the PS2 - is so far ahead of everything else at the time, it's like the GPU fairies came in the middle of the night and upgraded my black box. Bodes very well for the future of the PS3 if other devs can start to get this sort of performance (or better) out of the beast. Teh power of teh c3ll doesn't seem quite so daft any more.
But what's with the cod cockney accents of the Helghast? It's like shooting Vinnie Jones and the cast of EastEnders (not such a bad thing, now I think of it).

It's not marines it's shooters. Aim, shoot, move. Aim, shoot, move. Aim, shoot etc, etc. No matter where you set it or how good it looks it's the same. I guess that's why Mirrors Edge was so refreshing - hardly any shooting!
I said on the demo thread I think that's why KZ2 hasn't impressed me (I will be buying though as my love of MP shooters hasn't died yet and I hear good things of KZ2). Technically and graphically it's surperb and it's a great game from the demo and PS owners should be happy. But personally it's still aim, shoot, move and KZ2 comes when we've had overkill of that over the last couple of years.
At least stick me in a craft next time please (another subtle hint at G-police/Colony Wars Mr Sony - I can get them in anywhere!), I'm practically done with on foot FPS.

What do you think I mean? I mean having to set RGB to "limited" every time I play Killzone 2 and then switch back to "Full for everything else will soon become extremely tedious". That setting depends on what your TV supports, and should not have to be changed. I calibrated my TV using the THX calibration tool - I'm not about to muck around with those settings just for one game.... especially when every other game works fine.
I suspect they might have got the gamma level slightly wrong in this demo, and I hope they fix it for the final release.
