Hendrix music exclusive to Rock Band

New single plus Axis: Bold As Love.

Harmonix and MTV have announced that Jimi Hendrix's music will be exclusive to the Rock Band platform from now on.

Next week sees the release of the album Axis: Bold As Love both as individual songs (£0.99 / €1.49 per track) and an album pack (£9.99 / €14.99) on 30th March (Wii and Xbox 360) and 1st April (PS3).

Fans will also be able to get the new single "Valleys of Neptune" next week. Valleys of Neptune is taken from the album of the same name, which is comprised of previously unavailable Hendrix studio recordings.

"Much like Jimi's music, we feel that Rock Band represents an amazing, innovative medium for music discovery and interaction that can have a profound affect on those who experience it," said Janie Hendrix, CEO of Experience Hendrix LLC.

Earlier this year MTV denied that it was working on a standalone Jimi Hendrix game.

I anticipate high levels of crosstown traffic in the rush to purchase this game.

I was hoping for a Hendrix edition Rockband really! With just as much TLC as the Beatles, that said, maybe we only need one unique spin-off and I can't think of anything better than The Beatles...the AD/DC one doesn't exist...

Good. Guitar Hero did a shoddy job using him in World Tour.

I'm presuming they've have a fleet of lawyers all along the watchtower to ensure the certainty of contracts doesn't become a purple haze.

You for got mention that there are going to be more albums coming in the future. I love how stuff like this gets announced and and a week later we're playing it.
Think I'll buy this, Lego Rock Band and some of the cool DLC that's been released lately and get back into my rock groove. I haven't even picked it up since last year.

Or in other words, Jimi's music can have a profound effect on those who experience it, so we've decided to sell it to the highest bidder to make fat stacks of cash, despite the fact that this will clearly limit the number of people who can experience it, even though we're trying to claim that the opposite is our goal.

Yeah I mean, it wouldn't at all be ridiculous to expect everyone to just spend years learning guitar, balancing the day job, parenthood, other hobbies, life and all that, all because it's "just erm..not right". Why the hell aren't we all just learning guitar right now!?

Honestly fail to believe people are still this ignorant that they can't see why the music-rhythm genre is popular and why not everyone can just pick up a guitar and play Hendrix with their eyes shut while on the receiving end of a blow job without years of practice first.

It's called having a bit of soul pal, u wanna try it sometime. I love my games but nailing a song on a proper banjo like 'Babe I'm gonna leave you now" by Led Zeppelin, blows completing a game totally out of the water, but it sounds like you'll never have that feeling. It doesn't take years to learn to play a real guitar either, six months and you can knock out decent tunes, how many games do you complete in six months? You can play this in six months - http://www .youtube.com/watch?v=rc6Rhl11P-w

Polaris, why are you wasting your time commenting on a forum when it would be far better spent writing a novel?

True, I give up. BTW anyone who wants to learn a proper guitar, that link i gave you is one of the best teachers on the net, he does a comprehensive beginners course on his website and he does it for free, top guy.

    Profound effect, not 'affect'.
  • Mark1412 #15 2 years ago

    @polaris70

Ha, the irony. I've played bass for seven years and drums for the passed nine months, I know the joys of learning a real instrument well but I also know the joys of the music rhythm genre and they are massively different.

    Assumptions are for morons.

For the millionth time. No one cares about the "playing real instruments is better than these stupid games" argument since its silly. But if you go that road. I had fun drumming on a Roland electronic kit the other day for the first time and Rock Band taught me how to keep a beat and move around the kit.

Its called being a condescending berk actually pal.

Remember folks, for that total 'experience', don't forget to set fire to your 'guitar' after each performance ;)
  • DoKtoR #18 2 years ago

Led Zeppelin need to "feel that Rock Band represents an amazing, innovative medium for music discovery and interaction that can have a profound affect on those who experience it" so we can look and sound like idiots mimicking Jimmy Page & Robert Plant - how awesome would that be at a party?
