Give Kane & Lynch a try

Inject PC demo.

Eidos has strained a PC demo for Kane & Lynch into the Internet cup.

It tastes of 594 MB and is infused with the Retromoto Tower mission flavour, complemented by strong scents of swearing, blood, and violence.

The teabag was created by Hitman developer IO Interactive, and is a third-person shooter with a remarkably dark and gritty story to tell: you play as one of two quirky main characters who hate each other but join forces out of necessity to tackle some juicy crime capers.

As a duck-and-cover shooter it comes off badly when compared to heavyweights such as Gears of War, but its atmospheric tale - if rather concise - makes it a worthwhile endeavour.

Head into our Kane & Lynch review to see us pick it apart, or simply try it for yourself in the demo.

Id sooner not bother with the fiasco of the review from that other site. It looked diabolical.

With the wild difficulty swings it's actually unplayable at the higher difficulty levels so I wouldn't advise anyone to buy this unless they KNOW they can trade it in later.

Shows why you shouldn't blindly trust reviews, then. The game is good (at least the PC version is, several people now commented how the 360 version doesn't compare very favourably).

Can't say I noticed that - if you're reasonably careful (and actually use your team), it's all very doable.

    The game is broken though.

The cover system is borked, and anyone who has played the demo or the full game knows this.

The game itself is pretty good it's just that it seems it was rushed out to get it out at christmas so the cover system doesn't work and the difficulty is all over the place. However the multiplayer is quite good and would of been brilliant if they'd got the cover system fixed.

I played the demo co-op last night with some friends and we had a hoot - don't get me wrong, it has some flaws, but to be totally honest after a couple of goes we pretty much figured out how to work the game that we didn't notice them.

I'm actually going to go buy it off the back of the demo :)

Exactly the same for me. I completed it on the hardest difficulty level and found it great fun, even with the issues. The Havana level on hard was insane, but great when I finished it.

I'm still in the "I resent Eidos" Pigeon hole for that diabolical thingy that happened a while back, won't be buying any Eidos games for a while. That's me, protesting....yeah.

  • BBIAJ #13 4 years ago

I quite clearly don't, unless you're referring to the GameSpot debacle?

Graah! This is probably so simple...

How do I rappel down? I'm positioned in the right place... there's no 'rappel' key... nothing in my inventory... oh God help me.
