E3: Kratos in Soulcalibur PSP

He'll titan the character roster.

God of War protagonist Kratos will be a playable character in Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny on PSP.

Confirmation comes from the camera lens of 1UP, who spotted the angry Greek warrior on the character-select screen.

Kratos is equipped with his trusty chain blades that swish and chop and turn out a good olive and feta salad.

The God of War series expands March 2010 with the third instalment on PlayStation 3. We saw an on-stage demonstration last night as part of the Sony E3 conference, and published our preview (hands-on impressions to follow) in complement.

We snared a new batch of God of War III screenshots for our gallery, too.

Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny is due out sometime this summer.

These guest characters don't hold any appeal to me. In fact, I would have paid Namco for some DLC to remove all the Star Wars characters and stages from Soul Calibur 4.

Kratos is better suited to the series, but is still not a great fit. God of War games are great for their joyous excess - Kratos picks up common footsoldiers and rips them in two with his bare hands and decapitates foes several times his size, having him trade tick-damage with some 15 year old girl just doesn't seem right.

I'm no fan of the guest stars either but at least (as you said) Kratos does fit in better than the SW characters for example. I mean, Soul Calibur already has Greek characters (Sophitia, Cassandra) so I guess he won't be totally out of place.

Obviously it won't be all bloody and ripped-off limbs as in GoW so it will be strange to an extent. Could be worse - remember Heihachi in SCII? Utterly ridiculous.
