Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires dated

Game turns tactical in June.

KOEI has announced that Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires will be released for PS3 and Xbox 360 on 26th June.

The game adds tactical elements to the hack-and-slash mix. There's the choice between being a ruler or an officer, for example, where the former uses a mixture of politics and power to unite ancient China while the latter acts as a freelancer, whose renown and responsibility increases with each battle.

Cards can be acquired along the way that improve the state of your population and force your followers to do what you say.

You'll be able to create your own hero, too, or become a new character not seen in Dynasty Warriors 6. Six of the existing heroes have also been given new weapons and moves, plus there's extra levels and stages to explore.

Dynasty Warriors 6 was the best of the series so far. Head over to our Dynasty Warriors 6 review for a full analysis.

"Dynasty Warriors 6 was the best of the series so far."

no, no, no and no, Dynasty warriors 6 is not the best of the series and majority fans of the series tend to agree that DW 3 was the best and still do

6 had multiple characters use the same movesets, characters ruined by chaging weapons, hardly anyone had a story anymore and characters and battles were removed, so no this wasn't the best of the series.

if it wasn't obvious im a koei hardcore.

DW6 is only best from a graphical point of view, I hated that they switched weapons and stuff around. I always really like the Empires editions and so cant wait for this. Lets hope that next is a Samurai Warriors using this engine and then a new Warriors Orochi!

Of course this version is the best, they added swimming and ladder climbing!

I thought DW6 was the worst of the series so far, and I'm a real DW fanboy so that surprised me greatly. Like serpantdarius says, DW3 is better, and certainly my favourite core game. I do love the Empires games though.

Well me being such a fanboy im actually looking forward to this, whilst there are alot of elements that are carried forward into the spin offs, they always add soemthing new and improve on them for these spinoffs, XL may not be much of a new thing but it has in the past given new game modes that i love with a passion and i for one am looking forward to the Empires gaming yet again.

I do so love having regions under my control and bashing my steely gauntleted fist onto the game board and capturing the pesky regions of CaoCao before he can become all powerful man of the millenia.

That said the new create your own hero and then take them as just an officer/mercenary sounds a bit fun to me and a little bit new so looking forward to this one for definite..

@Mr.Me, i disagree the fact you can use the strategical method of picking up territory and then moving your army to gaurd borders and focus on weapons and item production or just allying etc is a big difference from the main game, you can obviously say that a method for gaining those territories is obviously using the old game engine but the gameplay is very different over all, your not fighting a linear battle its all up to you.

The officers change too, you can yank some out of their armies using some cards, not mentioned by yourself, but just to play nastily and bridbe officers to turn.

It offers a good range of diversity, not much from previous empires but certainly more form the original version of the game.

I'm still a bigger fan of the Tactics though i did love them.
