Duke: Manhattan Project rated for 360

Side-scroller re-release teased by ESRB.

There's new evidence to suggest that 2002 side-scroller Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project may be coming to Xbox Live Arcade.

A new entry in America's ESRB ratings database lists the game for an Xbox 360.

This isn't the first hint we've had at an Xbox Live re-release for the Manhattan Project. Gamerbytes noticed a LinkedIn update pointing to the game late last year, and the Korean Game Rating Board listed the game last month.

We weren't terribly impressed with the game when it first hit PCs eight years ago, calling it an "entertaining yet somewhat shallow and overly simplified action game".

I've lost all interest in Duke now.
Re-releasing poor side scrolling sh'mups isn't gonna peak my interest in anything, never mind an IP I've got no faith in ever seeing a decent game from.

Yes it was simple, but it was a little bit of fun in a time when side scrollers on the PC were hard to come by it was a fun bit of distraction.

On XBLA where there is alot more competition for this sort of distraction i dont know how it will sell, I still have my disc somewhere.

Played it on the PC when it came out. Shallow but entertaining for a weekend or so. The problem is that there are definitely far better side scrolling games on XBLA and I doubt Manhatten Project will have an easy time competing, even if sold at 800 MS points.

boring environments killed the game for me. how many new york blocks do we have to cross, before we see something new?

I liked it years ago and still own it for the PC. It's not quite as good as the finest arcade side scrollers, but it's not too shabby either. Konami should port Contra: Shattered Soldier for the current gen consoles (and Gradius V while we're at it; Treasure, anyone?), though. Shattered Soldier is the shit. All the "professional" reviewers' whinig about the difficulty alone would be worth it.

Um, I recall it being pretty varied graphically. Sewers, laboratories, docks, helicopter, underground factory, train, space station... The presentation was pretty good. Lots of hidden areas and secrets too.

Well, I thought Manhattan Project was awesome. You can get the original one for 5.99$ on GOG.Com by the way.
