Dead Space 2 to have online multiplayer?
Job advert seems to suggest so.
A new job advert has kicked off speculation that the next Dead Space game could feature an online multiplayer mode.
The ad is for a senior online level designer at EA Redwood, to work on "the Dead Space franchise on Xbox 360 and PS3". The successful candidate will "work collaboratively with creative director and online producer to create extremely fun, satisfying and polished multiplayer levels".
He or she will also "drive online design by taking the initiative to bring all parties together to execute on the overall vision for the levels".
Apparently, "The previous instalment in the Dead Space franchise received numerous awards for gameplay, visuals, and sound design, and the same core team is in place to create an even better follow up," the ad reads.
"The game is in the later stages of pre-production, ready for production in the next few months, with many of the navigational and combat mechanics in place."
EA has yet to officially announce Dead Space 2 but it's not the first time we've heard a sequel is on the way - a similar job listing was posted back in September.

We can only hope it's a seperate mode we will all try once or twice and ignore like the rest and not the horrid awfulness of a full co-op ruining an excellent SP game.

If anyone played deadspace extraction, they know that the group of desperate survivors thing works quite well with deadspace. The enemy ability to convert corpses makes things hard because your constantly on your guard. The only issue I would have is if the single player companion AI wasn't as good as the AI in Uncharted 2!

Except I played UC2 and loved the MP
Just keep it out of the main game.

The original Dead Space was not a space FPS. I havent heard about the sequel being an FPS either.

If we still get a good 12 hour single player survival horror experience and get some engaging and interesting multiplayer, taking a page from Naughty Dog's rulebook basically, then I can get behind the idea of multiplayer. If however we end up with a less satisfying, shorter and generally lesser quality experience than we got in the first game then the words epic fail will surely follow the release.

Just no co-op, please.

Always wondered how well this would fit with a multiplayer system. If it's co-op it might be fine but i would like to see how they work around the fact that the weapons in dead space were pretty much lethal in one shot (to humans.)
However I agree with people who say it detracts from the scary atmosphere, like re5 did.

I prefer to view the online modes as a bonus simply because they're not the reason I play games so I don't care either way how the online mode turns out, just so long as the single player is as good as the original which I completed a couple of months ago on the PC. I'll be buying BioShock 2 only for its single player too; the first game certainly didn't need any multiplayer to make it a better value game IMO and I doubt Dead Space 2 will either.
Some anti-alasing wouldn't go amiss for Dead Space 2 though...
