David Cage at Eurogamer Expo 2009

Video of the game and the Q&A.

We were very proud and honoured last week to welcome Quantic Dream's David Cage to the Eurogamer Expo, where, in addition to a playable showfloor demo laid on by publisher Sony Computer Entertainment, he walked attendees through Heavy Rain and took part in an open question-and-answer session.

We covered it all live and went hands-on with the showfloor demo, but there's no substitute for seeing it all first hand, which is why we made sure Eurogamer TV was there with a camera.

The result is the three sequences below. First up is Cage's introduction to Heavy Rain, during which he shows off the Hassan's Shop demo and the multiple ways there are to play through it.

Following that, you can check out two of the more significant sections of the Q&A, during which Cage was asked to share his views about mature content in games and then, right at the end, when someone (not us!) asked whether Heavy Rain would be feasible on any other format.

Heavy Rain is due out exclusively for PlayStation 3 early next year, and you can find several previews and loads of assets over on our Heavy Rain gamepage.

    "I'm not making Dragon's Lair! I'm not making Dragon's Lair! I..

    Oh I appear to have thrown all my toys out of my pram without explaining why the above is true. Could you pick up my rattle?"

    If the person who asked that question reads the site: You sir, are a supreme cunt. Wasting a valuable opportunity to ask good questions with fanboy sensationalist bullshit like that! It was lol-tastic when everyone else in the audience did a picard facepalm however.

    Yes Cage this OTE game could only be done on the all powerful PS3, how that plastic case can hold all that power in is beyond me. What a sad little man this Cage is, you can also throw in the guys who made Uncharted 2, they were talking the same shit a few weeks back. Why not ask the best games 3D programmer in the world, John Carmack if the PS3 is that powerful because he would tell Sony to shove it up their ass.

    This game actually reminds me of a game back in the day on the Amiga... "it came from the desert"... now that was an interactive cinema experience....

    @asphaltcowboy
    The questioner was most likely one of the Sony doods that Cage alluded to.
    That being said, whilst the Bigging-Up-The-Ps3-Hardware was standard schtick for an exclusive developer, his second point about Sony's willingness to venture into the left-field carries some truth.

    (wasn't me who negged you , btw =) )

    Yeah, he obviously did the "the PS3 is really powerful" thing as his response to the question, which is fair enough since he was asked but thankfully the rest of the talk was mostly about the actual game. Was just annoyed that I'd had my hand up for ages trying to ask a question and I get ignored in favour of this idiot! 8)

    I like the game, but I'd of gone to the bar during that presentation. It was like being back in actiing class listening to that - and I fucking hated those twats.
