Child of Eden compatible with pads
PS3/360 Mizuguchi title out in Q1 2011.
Child of Eden, Tetsuya Mizuguchi's stunning new conduct-'em-up shooter, was one of the more interesting motion-control games announced at E3, but a preview session with the director yesterday revealed the game will also support control pad input on both the PS3 and Xbox 360.
A "spiritual sequel" to Rez, Child of Eden sees you "purifying" viruses infesting a series of internet archives using a mechanic that a lot of people would classify as "shooting". Like Mizuguchi's previous synaesthesia classic, players move a cursor over targets to highlight them, before releasing shots in a single burst.
The game's director demonstrated this in real style at Ubisoft's press conference earlier in the week using the Xbox 360's Kinect camera, but backstage at Ubisoft's booth he played the game using a controller as well as the new motion control device, and said that the final version would support both methods. There was no sign of the alleged PlayStation Move version, however.
However you choose to play it, Child of Eden looks pretty incredible. Check out our Child of Eden preview to find out why.

If the 300ms lag is real then I would not want to be using kinect.

I can't see ANY reason to buy the expensive Kinect for this.

In short: if reviews state that Kinect actually enhanses the experience, then I'll buy in to it. I can see how this title could pull you in with the controllerless design, but that would depend on how well the tech' works. Let's see on release shall we.....

EDIT: You can't! I still can't believe EG hasn't put up a news story about this. Currently you can't sit down and use the camera for anything. Not even menu navigation. MS are saying they are looking to have that particular use ready for couch users by launch but won't commit to people being able to play games while seated. All the camera is going to be good for is party games and voice command (which I think could have some cool implementations in games). At the rumoured $150/£100 price point I can't see it taking off if that is it is going to offer.
