Call of Duty 1 soon on PSN, XBLA

List of Achievements appears.

The PSN and XBLA release of the original Call of Duty may be just around the corner, judging by a freshly-discovered list of Achievements.

They popped up on Xbox360Achievements (via Kotaku) and span 12 rewards totalling 200 Gamerpoints.

The game, remember, will be free with the pricey Prestige Edition of Modern Warfare 2, which costs £120.

Otherwise, a date and price for Call of Duty on XBLA and PSN are not known.

We do remember what the original Call of Duty was like, however. Head over to Kristan's analysis from 2003 for a trip down memory lane.

"The game, remember, will be free with the pricey Prestige Edition of Modern Warfare 2"

And still you will be cheaper off buying the normal edition and this separately. As a bonus, you don't have to store that ridiculous device.

@Xerx3s: Cheaper again to get the box down form the attic and reinstall it, by-passing MW2 completely for the next 18 months... but no, I mustn't. That game was like heroin to me, incredibly moreish.

I'm pretty sure COD 1 is included in the hardened edition as well
  • mkreku #4 2 years ago

I read "hardened edition" as hardon edition. I'm starting to doubt my own sexuality :/

    @mkreku
Perhaps you should take the Samus Test ;-)

I have COD1 on Steam, but the game doesn't play that well (it stutters frequently).... I think it's not performing quite right on mulit-core systems or something.

I'd love to see the PC version get an update (yeah right, like that'll ever happen!).... At least to include widescreen support (1680x1050) and sort out that stuttering problem I have (COD2, COD 4 and COD:WAW are all smooth experiences for me)

CoD was amazing fun back in the day, I've never had so much fun during those GCSE's with CoD. But I can see myself getting frustrated with a controller after doing well with the mouse and keyboard. But fuck it, it's still good.

    @ Kosumo
I wondered about buying COD2 for XBOX360 after loving the game on PC, but really the controls work fine on a gamepad. Basically the aim down sight has a built in help to nudge you onto target.

No, after replaying COD1 on the PC recently, my concern is how many points there are where you can very quickly die, eg if you do not destroy RPG-equipped enemies when travelling in a vehicle. It's trickier than the later games, I feel.

I'll still probably buy it , of course.

yes it is in the Hardened edition as well, going for about £70...HMV(where i have credit with)aren't doing it for some reason..and i can't afford to pay cash elsewhere...so i will get the regular edition, and buy Dragon age with the rest

however,i heard COD arcade game wont be available for everyone else until 2010..which is a pisser if true,as thats why i wanted to get it with MW2

i wonder if they have any plans for a XBLA/PSN United Offensive, the expansion for COD

The original CoD is still the best one as far as I'm concerned, it'll be nice to see how well it's been converted.
  • timewarp87 #11 2 years ago

is it reworked with the new engine? Im sure I read that somewhere...
  • Tetsuo_Shima #12 2 years ago

Yeah, I agree Whizzo. CoD was a sensational game, certainly one of my favourite PC games of all time. The multiplayer was just incredible, like living out all your favourite WW2 movies at the same time!

@ timewarp87: The only info I could find:

"Relive the original Call Of Duty experience in HD"

That could mean anything really, so we will have to wait and see.

COD Classic (the real name of this xbla/PSN game) IS the PC version updated and including widescreen support. So yeah its happening.

    7/10!

Must say those achievements don't look too hard, aside from the difficulty one.

    "The game... costs £120."
    (edited for hilarity).

    wouldnt have surprised me hehe.
Since reasonably priced games and the laughter of small children areBob Koticks' Kryptonite.
  • CB.Gamestation #17 2 years ago

It is indeed free with the Hardened Edition as well.
This edition is an exclusive to Gamestation (and maybe GAME).
    Looking at £64.99 - £69.99 retail.
