C&C4: Tiberian Twilight out in March News

PC News by Robert Purchese

12 November, 2009

EA has announced a 19th March release date for Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight in Europe.

Pre-order the PC game now to guarantee a spot on the upcoming beta programme, as well as to reserve a copy of the soundtrack and a bonus in-game mission.

Tiberian Twilight, a PC exclusive, brings the long-running Tiberium story to a close. The most surprising new ingredient is a class-based levelling system that is persistent across all modes.

But on top of that we find co-op, five-versus-five objective-based multiplayer and a mountain of new units and locales to do some war on.

Campaign over to our Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight gamepage for more.

goddamn they keep pumping out C&C and RedAlert. New games are great but I would prefer it if there was a longer gap between iterations so the game can really mature and allow different tactics to develop etc. Can you imagine if Street Fighter was released every year? Ouf that would suck. The awesome japanese talent would be severely diluted across the yearly editions.

Back to C&C a minute, it's no bad thing that RA3 came out soon after C&C3 because that was pretty terrible but maybe something a bit like blizzard with starcraft? only not quite so "10 years or so".

But ultimatey what's the point in saying anything? It's all about the money.

I put in a lot of hours on cnc3 and kanes wrath and really enjoyed it, the only thing stopping them from being great was the amount of bugs which ultimately killed the online community... i hope they have time to finish this game off properly

That's not going to happen. According to Kotaku and VoodooExtreme, the C&C team are among the layoffs at EA, so when the game ships, there will be no support of any kind. I'm going to at least wait with buying it just to see if the constant online thing actually works with all the staff gone.

I really enjoyed Red alert 3 for what it was, and it sounds like they are trying to blend a little DOW2 into this mix this time around, looking forward to seeing more of this but should really get around to playing CNC3 properly in the mean time

As long as they try to force me to play the single player campaign while being connected to internet, C&C4 is a no go for me. I've skipped RA3 because of online activation and steam for RA3 expansion and most of the EA lineup from fall 2008, so a game that requires an internet connexion while playing SP is even a bigger NO BUY.

Seems that EA does one step right and comes with three step in the wrong direction....

Have you even played a C&C game ever? The game formula has only changed ONCE with Red alert 2's alternative fire modes.

THATS IT! It has STILL obelisks, as it had in C&C.. 1!

Seriously if you need tactics play supreme commander, or warzone 2100, any strategy game but C&C. early harass (wuf) +Tankrush is still the way to go in C&C. It has been for like forever.

I'm very disappointed about the whole online all the time thing, but it's not the end of the world. I'm eager to see the conclusion of the storyline at the very least.

No, it just kills the game whenever you lose signal.

EA, patch the game with some sort of offline mode, ffs!

I too would like to see proper offline support, and I'm also a little tired of recent C&Cs, BUT I think it's good that they are actually trying something new this time with class/levelling system, instead of releasing a reskinned version of past C&Cs.

I kinda of loathed what happened in the C&C universe after EA took over. C&C2 was not a good game, while C&C3 tried to clear a bit the name of the franchise (they've managed partially, but it seems that EA is decided to give us a new poorly made gameplay).

And you know what? I'd really like to know what happened with Kane after the events in the RA1.
