Borderlands Knoxx DLC delayed

Out tomorrow on 360, says Gearbox.

Update: Xbox 360 owners will have to wait until tomorrow to play Borderlands add-on The Secret Armory of General Knoxx.

"So looks like the new Borderlands DLC will be hitting tomorrow after all," Tweeted XBL community leader Graeme Boyd, pointing to the GeneralKnoXX Twitter feed.

The PC and PS3 release on Thursday is unaffected.

Original story: 2K has announced that The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, the third instalment of Borderlands DLC, is due out this week.

Xbox 360 owners will be able to grab it today, in fact, for 800 Microsoft Points (£6.80 / €9.60), while PC and PS3 owners can access it on Thursday for $9.99.

General Knoxx ups the level cap, and promises new enemies, guns, items and locations. It will also be accompanied by a patch detailed on the official forum.

Look out for our review of General Knoxx soon, and in the meantime why not check back on our Borderlands review, or our reviews of previous DLC packs The Zombie Island of Doctor Ned and Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot?

Should have been included with the game
  • Peew971 #2 2 years ago

I don't get it... Wasn't the level cap already 50? I'm sure I got an achievement for that!
  • CygnusReactor #3 2 years ago

@peew971 yeah the lvl cap is 50 in borderland and this DLC will raise it beyond 50, I think that was just a typo from EG. I can't get enough of this game, it rocks.
  • muscleblade #4 2 years ago

Too much to play right now. Im buying this but will atleast complete Bioshock 2 before starting this.
  • Lotos8ter #5 2 years ago

There's a new achievement, "Ding! Overlevelled to 11" for when you reach Level 61 so the new cap must be at least that high. Blimey, can't wait to get stuck into this again.

Yay! Wasn't expecting this for at least another month. A nice excuse to leave work early ;)
  • metalangel #7 2 years ago

Yeah, y'all might find the level cap is at least 61 now, as there's an achievement for that. I finally finished my own playthrough of this on the weekend (having flitted between various friends' games mostly) and have to admit, it is best as a co-op game but unless you play with the same people in the same playthrough, it falls flat as half of you are too powerful or weak, and half aren't having the progress recorded to their own game. Oh, and everyone will return to their own games a few levels higher than they should be so as to make their next few missions really easy. That said, it's fun and I want that big truck from the previews!
  • patch #8 2 years ago

Apparently the level cap is going up to 61? Also, 360 price in £/€, PC & PS3 in $? Eurogamer struggles with numbers shocker! :p

Really looking forward to this, I'm enjoying it just as much on second playthrough so extra content will (hopefully) be tops!!! :D
  • Duchessprozac #9 2 years ago

    Damn, this is out today?

Curse you Gearbox, I wasn't expecting it to be out this soon.
  • dfunked #10 2 years ago

    Yay!
Zombie island was my favourite piece of DLC, so hopefully this will wash away the bad taste that the last DLC left in my mouth...
Didn't realise it was out so soon!
  • Flying_Pig #11 2 years ago

    Wow - Brilliant.

New level cap (with the DLC) is 61
  • Olemak #12 2 years ago

I hope they're planning an "all you can eat" sort of thing for all the DLC combined at some point.

I am a slow gamer, and have not even finished the core game yet. Working on it tho.
  • kinky_mong #13 2 years ago

Well this is a pleasant surprise! Always got time to return to Pandora.
  • octavedoctor #14 2 years ago

Blimey that's a bit soon! @ 800 points, it's gotta be a barg.... Zombie Island was a treat..
  • Murton #15 2 years ago

The other two DLCs were a lot closer to the real exchange rate than most titles costing £6.29 each in the UK, I'd imagine this one would be the same making Gearbox/Take2 the only company that hasn't hiked UK PS3 prices on its DLC in recent months.

Haven't gotten the first two yet as none of my co-op buddies have bought them, hopefully there'll be a bundle release that will coax them into the investment.
  • Jay-ITFC #16 2 years ago

Agree on the bundle idea Murton. Once all DLC is released for a game I'd like to see more companies put it into a tidy package and release at a slighty cheaper price than if bought seperately on XBL and PSN. W@W did it recently with its map packs but too long after release...

yay new enemies to rip to shreds with my hellfire smg.
  • CrimsonSoul #18 2 years ago

Anyone seen this available for download yet?
  • Tongan_Dave #19 2 years ago

I hope that when this is released in my country this content is included on the disc as was originally intended, I do not earn enough money to have to pay for the rest of the game after I buy disc

    @Tongan_Dave

I'd usually agree with you but not in this case. BL is a big game already and the DLC, in 2/3 cases, has added a lot. Probably more than could have been fitted on a DVD.
  • EmiliasHorse #22 2 years ago

Upgraded to an Elite the other day cos my bog standard 20gb just didn't hack it anymore, DLC here I come.....unless it is rubbish, which it wont be. Will it?

Finally bought a Wii as well, the collection is complete.
  • CrimsonSoul #23 2 years ago

Damm, gotta wait another day. *shakes fist* curse you fikkle gods of fate!

  • MasterNameless #24 2 years ago

"I hope that when this is released in my country this content is included on the disc as was originally intended, I do not earn enough money to have to pay for the rest of the game after I buy disc"

That's a ridiculous statement, this is obviously not desgined to be in the game to begin with. People should learn to see shades of grey. Just because a few devs/publishers take content from a game for DLC - Namco, Capcom I'm looking at you - doesn't mean everybody does.
  • Matt_B #25 2 years ago

@Tongan_Dave - I need your help, could you be kind enough to point me in the direction of some entertainment which will cost me £6.80 or less. I thought about taking my mate to the pub and buying him a beer. But your never there for "just one" are you. I could maybe stretch to a single cinema ticket, is there anything good on at the moment?

    @Matt_B

Check out the PSN or XBL Arcade, you'll find quite a few games on there for less than £6.80 that will give you hours of entertainment.

  • Tongan_Dave #28 2 years ago

That is not the issue, the issue for me is that my monthly budget can afford one game, everything else goes to my family and standard of living
  • kinky_mong #29 2 years ago

So tell me Tongan_Dave, what is the average wage over there that can only cover one game?
  • Vyggo #30 2 years ago

One game a month is not that bad, the original borderlands should be at least a months worth of enterainment, you can buy the DLC the next month.
  • shamblemonkee #31 2 years ago

the genral knoxx twitter is still claiming today. Plus update your stories to say lvl cap to 60 already... your sister site vg247 made the same mistake - which makes it look like a c+p error - nice!
  • Mayhem64 #32 2 years ago

Level cap is 61 apparently. Crawmerax I've heard is gonna be level 64... so... that's why he's called "invincible" then... we're gonna have fun trying to kill him when 3 levels down...
  • TOOTR #33 2 years ago

Dling this right now. Not in recently added section - yet - browse all games, go to Borderlands et voila.

    1.66 GB

  • Jamiesan #34 2 years ago

I was just able to DL this from the game's main menu. couldnt get it from the dashboard or xbox.com though
  • CrimsonSoul #35 2 years ago

Checked Marketplace and couldn't see it but started the game up and got an update. Once the update was done there's a "Downloadable Content" link in the menu. Accessed it through there. However, looks as though I can't move off the download (stops whenever I leave the download screen). At 1.66GB could be in for a wait...
  • DUFFKING #36 2 years ago

    Downloading now.

And by the way, how the hell are they going to include content which was created after development on the game proper was finished on the disc? A disc which already has a very lengthy (by today's standards) campaign on it already? Fools.

Finaly a developer puts some effort into DLC and people bitch about it.
