Zombie Island available for $10.

Gearbox has finally released the PC version of Borderlands DLC The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, and you can buyorise it from the developer's site for $9.99.

That's if you've got a boxed copy of the game, anyway. If you bought it from Steam or elsewhere, you will need to buy the add-on through them.

According to the Gearbox site, Ned's island will allow for five concurrent installations and uses SecuROM DRM.

It's also very good, as you'll know if you read our Zombie Island of Dr. Ned review when it came out on PS3 and Xbox 360 last month.

Over in console land the content costs 800 Microsoft Points (Ł6.80 / €9.60) on Xbox Live and Ł6.29 / €7.99 on PlayStation Network.

ZOMG DRM NO BUY! Realistically, if I have a boxed copy, is it worth registering on Steam or doesn't it really matter either way?

There is no code with the retail version of Borderlands so it would not be possible to register it with Steam anyway.

No worries. Can't work out why the hell they have put SecuROM in the Steam version of the DLC.

Also in case anyone is wondering $9.99 = Ł6.10 at todays rate but Steam are charging Ł6.30

Cheeky bastards. That 20p could have gone nicely towards couple of Wham Bars. Well, more actually, VAT and all that jazz. Yet another question:
Boxed Borderlands + Steam DLC (let's say it goes on sale at some point) = ... Success? Or Failure?

The retail version of the game will not work with the Steam DLC. The Steam version of the DLC is only for those who bought the game through Steam.

That is propaganda, spread by Infinity Ward. We don't expect proper, decent content for free - but we do expect shitty map packs to be gratis.
