Black Wii for Europe next month

UK first, Europe two weeks later.

Nintendo has announced that the black Wii console will be available on 6th November in the UK & Ireland, and on 20th November in mainland Europe.

The new colour arrives within a Limited Edition bundle. This includes Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Wiimote, Wii MotionPlus and nunchuk.

Those controllers, like a new Classic Controller Pro, will also be black. Separate black peripherals go on sale from 20th November.

    Such negativity! But who cares people who bitch about their wii collecting dust either fan boys who don't even own one or plebs who wouldn't a good game if it fell into their laps. Go buy Halo ODST or whatever recycled tripe to make you such a "core" gamer.

    sErioUsly though, it Really dOes look GreAt. My othER half thinks it's very sEXy in black - POssibly the best hardware release of 2009.

    Releasing other colours is a bit of a moot point if you're expected to abandon your entire WiiWare/VC library to get one. Nintendo's primitive DRM discourages ever getting a system variation of the Wii of any kind.

    My launch Wii has become noisy lately. I'm sure it used to be close to silent but it's now noisier than my PS3 60GB.

    It is supposed to be silent, right? And I should take opportunity to go black, yes?

    Hats off to Ninty for creating a surge in gaming with the Wii, but as far as multi-coloured varients go... I can't see a different colour enticing me to go buy a second one.

    I just can't get over the complete lack of decent games for this console.
    I mean there are hundreds of games and it's selling like hotcakes.
    Is that the secret to console success release loads of really crap games?

    ..or are you just ignoring them? in the last month it's had 3 console exclusive games scoring over 8/10 at eurogamer...not forgetting You,me and the cubes which Eurogamer has not reviewed for some bizarre reason (it's been getting 8's and 9's on most sites).

    Where it falls down is multiformat releases..although considering how rarely they are reviewed it's hard to know how good or bad they are.

    Black, blue, red, green or pink is it really gonna change what the Wii currently can do? The simple answer is no! Don't understand why people buy one then exchange/sell it just for the sake of it's colour?!

    To Whom It May Concern:

    Thank you for the announcement of the Black Wii being made available for Europe; this was my preferred colour scheme when Nintendo originally revealed the Wii and was very disappointed when white was chosen for launch. I do, however, have a couple of questions:

    1. As I have recently become a house owner, funds are obviously a little limited, just how “limited” is this edition? Is it a case of only so many units will be made available, or that it will be limited to only those shops/websites which are willing to carry the separate SKU?

    2. As an existing Wii owner, with somewhere in the region of 40 downloads from the Wiiware and Virtual Console, are you going to offer a sensible transfer option to move over system settings and purchases from an old Wii to a new one? You had the foresight to include a similar function in the Nintendo DS, for the system ID and WiFi settings, so I’m hoping that you haven’t made the mistake of completely locking down the system ID in the Wii. Please note: I do not include physically sending you the systems in amongst the “sensible” options as to how you should make such a transfer.

    I look forward to hearing from you in regard to these matters.

    If I get any kind of answer that makes sense (always amazed when you get some half-wit replying with something that has nothing to do with what you asked) I'll post it here

    Ah see the "cool" casual gamers who only started playing games when they got all "hardcore" and gore filled gun fests which made them feel old and mature.. like to keep posting negative things about the wii, as it makes them feel more grown up and mature.

    The reason for this is simple - they're all around 12 or 13 years old.. all desperate to be "proper" grown ups.

    i am 30 and have every console of this generation. I spend more time on the wii than anything else to be honest - especially as it's the one my bird likes to play too. Games like mario galaxy, mario kart and zelda etc. I would argue that x360 is more for children in a way, it's more for people who can invest a lot of time playing games on their own whereas the wii is good for people who perhaps have perhaps less time to play games and also other people to think of!
