BioShock Big Daddy celebrated in plush

Along with replica EVE hypo.

NECA has unveiled its Big Daddy Bouncer plush toy and replica EVE syringe ahead of BioShock 2's release next week (thanks Destructoid).

The plush toy (pictured below) is a replica of the one seen dangling from the hand of a Big Sister in the first ever BioShock 2 teaser trailer.

The syringe - which doesn't function, obviously, but does have a marble in it fact fans - should be familiar to anyone who played the first game.

The props, detailed on NECA's site, are available from its Amazon storefront, although those of you hoping to import to Europe will need brave wallets.

BioShock 2 itself is due out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 next Tuesday, 9th February. Look out for our review at the start of next week.

In the meantime, check out today's BioShock 2 Eurogamer TV Show for a recap on what to expect.

Play.com are doing the Eve Hypo in the UK, no sign of the big Daddy though.

Does this come with a second free mug too, or just the one who buys it in the first place?

So let me see if I understand.

"Plush" means "cuddly", but for adults?
  • InternetRed #5 2 years ago

    That doesn't look very cuddly...

Somehow "rusty corkscrew" doesn't fit with "toy safety approval".

I would have prefered a big daddy plushy... this is just horrid :|

    @makeamazing

This IS a big daddy.... apparently.

Wait, that's supposed to be a Big Daddy? Did the people who designed that toy even LOOK at a Big Daddy?!

I have seen some pretty fucking ugly and stupid accessories and gimmicky tat in my time (Street Fighter Cammy figure that was about as accurate as 2+2=5,257), but that's really one of the worst pieces of tat I've ever seen. I could VOMIT a more accurate/acceptable representation of a Big Daddy.

But who am I kidding, that thing is going to fly off the shelves. If there's one thing I have learned is that no matter how inaccurate or shit a tie-in toy is, if the game is successful people will buy it. And therefore fanboys are idiots.

    Just saying.

@kangarootoo OH lol... well just goes to show that in my eyes it doesnt look like one :D

The Big Daddy is the toy one the Little Sister was carrying in the promo art and the various trailers, they seem to be using them as comforters. So if you've no interest in Bioshock 2, I can understand the ire. But if you'd actually heard of the game before today, it's kind of obvious what it is.

Then perhaps they shouldn't advertise it AS a Big Daddy? I mean, no offence to the designers or anything but we already have an image of Big Daddies in our heads and they are ten million times more awesome than that mess of things.

I do get the clues, but jeez, if you have to spend more than a few seconds trying to work out how this ties in then your licensed tat is a fail. A proper actual Big Daddy plush would indeed rock my world. This is, "Oh, it's a Big Daddy but it's a toy Big Daddy that the Little Sisters carry around as a comforter when Big Daddy isn't there... something you see in the promo shots if you look carefully. It's made from a few bits of rubbish they found littered around Rapture." - I'm sorry, but the marketing brain behind that idea needs to be fired. Out of a cannon. It's a stupid idea, Big Daddy plush should be a proper Big Daddy plush, not some overly-obscure in-game reference.

That said, Kotaku comments were right. Once seen, it cannot be unseen...

I think it's sorta nice! It's pretty hard for the aesthetic of Bioshock to carry over to most things, as it never strays from the dull, rusty wet look, but it's transferred to cuddly toys pretty well. Not so sure about the Ronald McDonald bondage suit, but if it was wearing that in the trailer then that's how it looks.

As for the lack of cuddliness, I'm not sure that's a factor for most Bioshock fans, 18 rating and all!

I think this plush is really cool. It looks just like the one the little sister carries in the ad and in the final scene of the game. To everybody crying about it not looking exactly like a big daddy......DUH!!!! It's not supposed too. You want an exact replica buy a model or action figure. They did exactly what they set out to do. Recreate the stuffed big daddy from the game. Great plush. I'll be buying one. Cool addition to any collection. It's hilarious some of you are too dumb to know it's not meant to be an exact copy. Try actually playing the game.

and by the way kami if you think the only time you see this plush is in an ad you've obviously never played the game. They're laying in certain areas of rapture and are a HUGE part of the final scene. Please play the game before you hate on this idea. I for one think it's much cooler than a plush exact replica big daddy. I don't recall any stuffed replicas in the game.
