Beyond Good and Evil sequel coming
Teaser trailer shown at UbiDays.
Ubisoft has unveiled Michel Ancel's next project - a sequel to cult classic Beyond Good & Evil.
A teaser trailer for the game was shown for the first time at tonight's UbiDays conference in Paris. It showed a desert scene with Jade sitting atop a broken down car, using a parasol for shade. The camera panned round to show her piggy friend resting against the back of the car, a magazine on his head, snoring.
A fly began buzzing around the pig's head and he snorted it through his nose before muttering, "50." As the camera panned back out and rose high above the scene more buzzing and snorting was heard, followed by silence and then, "51."
And that's it - no official title for the game, no word on which platforms it's in development for and certainly no suggestion of a release date. Here's hoping more info is released soon.

And Beyond Good & Evil was written as a trilogy. So this should really be good.

now let's hope it's not broken like ubi's last few games!

It was very good up to that point though. Maybe I'll see if it's backwards compatible with the 360.

there was in the gamecube version as well. so i never finished it. although it was awesome up to the point it froze, repeatedly, at the same point during a cutscene

I did enjoy the original, it's a classic example of a game that never puts a foot wrong* or outstays it's welcome. While the gameplay was hardly groundbreaking it was incredibly tight and varied so this news of a sequel is right to be trumpeted.
*apart from the bloody TBC ending with Peej - that pissed me off

And Jade was uber hot.

Oh, and really pleased to see all the +ve reaction on this thread.

unfortunately I only got half way throguh the first game because I traded in my old xbox when I got a 360 only to find out it was not backward compatible. I am sometimes tempted to pick up an old xbox just to finish it, awesome game.
On a side note, why do people on the internet write 'teh' instead of 'the'? I can never work it out.

Yes, the first BG&E didn't do well at all, but the game got a real cult status as time moved on.
Now, everybody's familiar with the name, a everybody knows its a game from a very talented developer.
If Ubi plays its cards rights, by bringing us a downloadable demo just before release, this could get the attention it deserves.
Look at GRID, that too was a series that was top notch, but never sold very well. But a great demo right before launch will propel this to the top. I'm tellin' ya mate, with PSN and XBL, devs are much closer to gamers. So the rules have changed.

Perhaps it was a slow burner, like Viva Pinata. I know I only bought it from all the positive things I heard about it on the internet.
Its a shame stuff like this gets overlooked yet dross like Haze still sells well.

Absolutely loved BG&E, so can't wait for this!

Nowadays, since Ubisoft persevered with it, you wouldn't call PoP a failed franchise. BG&E deserves all the ground-roots support that Psychonauts got (and more probably - I think it's a better game), and it's good to see that it'll get its place in the sun.

I'm going to have to play the 1st one again as I can't quite remember the ending apart from it implied she was an alien.
This will probably be the 1st game to force me to buy a 'nextgen'.

BG&E ranks for me as one of the best games ever made, and deservedly so. This game just blew every other game I've been looking forward to out of the water.
