Bloodborne, Ratchet & Clank make for one of PlayStation Plus' biggest months yet
But free Vita and PS3 games will end next year.
Sony has announced PlayStation Plus' games for March, and it's a good 'un.
Starting on March 6th, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download another six games, with Hidetaka Miyazaki's gothic masterpiece Bloodborne leading the charge.
It's not a game that needs much introduction, but Eurogamer liked quite a lot back in 2015. "It feels wonderful to have a world like this, said Rich Stanton in his Essential review, "And it's awful to know that, in all likelihood, it will be a painfully long time until I play anything else that matches up to Bloodborne's breadth of vision, generosity of content, and - yes - genius."
Also part of PlayStation Plus in March is Insomniac's wonderful PS4 re-imagining of the original Ratchet & Clank, which Chris Bratt awarded an silver Recommended badge back in the day. "There's a reason that Insomniac Games has been able to keep making Ratchet & Clank games for almost fourteen years now," he said, "And that reason is that, when done right, they're utterly joyful to play".
The remaining PlayStation Plus offerings for March aren't nearly so eye-catching, but you might find something among them that takes your fancy. There's the Bomberman-inspired Bombing Busters, and 2D horror game Claire: Extended Cut - for both PS4 and Vita - as well as spruced-up action platformer Legend of Kay Anniversary on PlayStation 3. Rounding things off is the extremely divisive Mighty No. 9 on PS4 and PS Vita.
And on the subject of PS Vita and PS3 games, Sony has also announced that, as of March 8th 2019, the PlayStation Plus monthly games line-up will focus exclusively on PS4 titles.
Sony says that all other benefits of the service - such as online multiplayer access, cloud saves, and game discounts - will remain as they are, but no more Vita and PS3 games will be incoming. However, PlayStation Plus members will still be able to access all Vita and PS3 titles they've accrued through their membership even after March 8th has past next year.
Hopefully Sony will manage to unearth a a couple more PS3 and Vita classics for PlayStation Plus members though, before that day arrives.
