PewDiePie no longer allows comments on his videos

Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, aka PewDiePie, aka King of All YouTube, has permanently removed the ability to comment on his videos. The internet celebrity, who boasts over 30m subscribers and has the most watched channel on YouTube, announced the decision in his latest video, entitled "Goodbye Forever Comments".

"I go to the comments and it's mainly spam, it's people self advertising, it's people trying to provoke... just all this stuff that to me, it doesn't mean anything. I don't care about it, I don't want to see it," quoth the Pewman.
"I'm just sick of it," he concluded. "I'm going to turn the comments off forever, they're not coming back."
While the announcement comes after a volatile few weeks for the internet gaming community, it's worth pointing out that PewDiePie's complaint has more to do with the sheer volume of crap he must navigate rather than anything specifically to do with the recent drama. He has instead opted to use Reddit and Twitter to communicate with his fanbase, platforms that are famously free of clutter and arguments.
It's also worth noting that, like many leading video blogging stars, PewDiePie may be positioning himself to move away from YouTube, where Google takes a hefty slice of all his revenue. PewDiePie recently released his own app, and is signed to Maker Studios, which is currently in the process of being sold to Disney.
