Resident Evil Chronicles HD Selection announced for PS3

Wii games in HD with Move support.

Capcom has announced Resident Evil HD Selection for PlayStation 3.

Resident Evil HD Selection is Wii titles Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles bundled together, remade in high definition with Move support, Andriasang reports.

The Resident Evil Chronicles series are on rails shooters that recount key events from the franchise's history.

Eurogamer's Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles review shot a 7/10.

Darkside Chronicles, which released two years after Umbrella Chronicles in 2009, went one better and scored an 8/10.

Resident Evil Chronicles HD Selection is, so far, a Japan-only title. No release date was mentioned.

House of the Dead, Dead Space: Extraction, These, the PS3 is really cashing in on the Move's similarities to the Wii, Shame Microsoft didn't see that coming. I wonder if Mad World will be on its way too

Would be tempted by that, Umbrella was great and never got the chance to play Darkside. Shame the conversion will be lazy.

If they're as lazy as the Res4 update they can forget it.

Im surprised its as low as 10% to be honest, but the real and valid question is, why to bad parents feel the need to find a scape goat in digital media being to blame rather than taking some responsibility for there family.

The term 'remade' is thrown around a bit too loosely these days. It suggests a reworking rather than a straight, warts and all port and upscale which is what we actually seem likely to get.

No thanks. RE0 & REmake, please.

I'm finding Resident Evil disappointing of late - especially when it comes to ports and conversions. The recent release of Code Veronica could have been so much better if they had used the environments from this game and given it a proper remake. They could have remade all the games with improved full 3D environments and character models from these games - but that would require a bit of effort instead of none.

Quality, another good game for the PS Move. Definitely interested.

Capcom don't really have a good track record on "HD Remakes" of late...

I enjoyed playing both on the Wii considering i'm not a massive fan of the Wii, it'll be nice to play it on a console i enjoy using but if it's a rediculous price they can keep it

I guess the Wii versions didn't make enough money for Capcom but will see if any effort has actually been put into these Ports(cuz thats what they'll be not remakes)

Im not interested though, there's nothing wrong with the Wii versions so I see no reason to get them again!!

I misread this and thought that Resi 4 and Code Veronica HD were coming out on disc at last. Wouldn't mind buying them if it meant I could sell them on when I'm done. There's still no way I'm paying £15+ for such poor efforts, but a bundled disc priced at £20 or so would have had me interested.

Not really interested in these spin-off games. I know they're meant to be fun, but it's just not enough for me.

Nice! Had a blast playing dead space extraction with move, this should be good.

@sfp_noodle: I bought the Japanese disc version for PS3. Code: Veronica at least looks very, very different from the original. They've added shadows, better water & lighting effects and the audio is excellent. My only complaint is that it does look a bit too dark.

RE4 "HD", on the other hand, is a pure waste of money.

@-cerberus- Is that version of PS3 Code Veronica different to the downloadable one from the UK store? Because I've got that and it looks awful.

I missed out on these two Resi's so I will probably get this.

    @-cerberus-

I thought they were only in Japanese though? It's the main reason I was put off importing them as I wouldn't know what the hell is going on. If they have and English language and audio option then I may reconsider.

UC and Darkside were really awesome blasters, UC some how better for me, grittier and more reminiscent of the feeling from the originals.
However as I own & played them to death on the wii I won't be getting even though I have move, sorry Sony !
(everyone else if you have the means & fancy an old school type shooter game give them a try)
  • -cerberus- #20 7 months ago

@muttler: It's the same version, yes. But compare it side by side to the originals and you'll appreciate the new graphical tweaks a great deal. Menu & item management happens a lot quicker than the past-gen versions.

@sfp_noodle: Text, subtitles and inventory are in Japanese but it just takes a while to get used to if you've played a Resident Evil game before. Audio is in English by default.

Note that the disc version requires a mandatory install for both games; about 2.5gigs for C:V and 3.5gigs for RE4.

I guess this means that the RE4 & Code Veronica "HD" versions were deemed a success.
  • reeferchief #22 7 months ago

I've never got round to getting these on the Wii, so I'll wait for the PS3 versions now. I'll not get my hopes up on the HD part though, Code Veronica doesn't look far off ps1 quality aside for the cut scenes.
  • redeyesurprise #23 7 months ago

I wanted them to use the assets from "Darkside Chronicles" to do a better HD port/remake of sorts for "Code: Veronica HD" instead.

    How typical of them.

Come on, Capcom, you can do it...HD remakes of Resi 1, 2 and 3, please, in the Gamecube REmake style. You're almost there, keep on at it...
