Deadly Premonition dev making Vita game

Swery65 director of Lords of Apocalypse.

Swery65, creator of eye-catching Xbox 360 game Deadly Premonition, has announced he is the director of PlayStation Vita launch title Lords of Apocalypse, according to a report by Siliconera.

Hidetaka "Swery65" Suehiro's studio Access Games created Lords of Arcana for the PlayStation Portable, which Lords of Apocalypse is a Vita port of. Lords of Arcana was itself based on the popular Lords of Vermillion trading card game.

Martin Robinson went hands-on with Lords of Apocalypse at the Tokyo Game Show.

"Lords of Apocalypse's taut combat and well produced universe are both handsome fits for the Vita, and the second analogue stick gives the kind of camera control that's impossible on the PSP, but its lineage is clear enough," he wrote.

"Ultimately it's a game that's unlikely to make it outside of Japan, and the language barrier makes it an unattractive option to import - but the concept of porting over some of the PSP's bigger franchises and custom-fitting them to the Vita is one that may well make it over here."

Port? the Vita Launch Games article said it was a sequel so which is it? I haven't completed the original and if it's a port I can know to just wait for it, if it's a sequel I'll want to beat it first

My coffee this morning told me this story would be up on EG by the time I got to work, I'm not sure what to make of it though, what do you think Zach?

Seriously though, I wasnt a huge fan of Deadly Premonition, but the more whimsical and eccentric auteurs we have in the industry the better IMO.

EDIT: negged for wanting diversity of content within the industry. I wonder why I come to this site sometimes.

Swery65, creator of eye-catching Xbox 360 exclusive Deadly Premonition

It wasn't a Xbox 360 exclusive, it was released on PS3 in Japan as well. Who would have thought a Wesley Yin-Poole article would be inaccurate?

I LOVED Lord of Arcana on PSP, its only downside was a complete lack of online play (having to use my PS3 isn't a good way to go) and camera issues. But I am seriously dissapointed to hear that I probably won't be playing Lord of Apocalypse on my Vita.

Wait wait. Something seems wrong in this article. Actually there are many.

First, its Lord of Arcana and Lord of Apocalyse. Not lords. Even the Japanese got that part right since the title in their boxart are in english.

Secondly, Lord of Apocalypse is supposedly a port of the PSP game Lord of Arcana?

But Lords of Apocalypse coming to both VITA and PSP too.
So, does that mean they are porting to a PSP game to PSP?

Third, how is it unlikely when Lord of Arcana did get released on US and Europe both?

And last, if you need a reliable source you should probably check the official site first, right?!

@Whooey - Yeah, Deadly Premonition does have some pretty hardcore fans! But I never said I didnt like it, I just wasnt taken by it in the same way a lot of other people were. The game has many many faults, but definitely has a charm to it and some pretty unique characters. Maybe the story really gains momentum somewhere after I left it, but I just couldnt take anymore of the frankly horrendous (but easy) combat and the laughable driving mechanics.

Still, anything thats not just another shooter these days gains massive points from me, and thats why I (despite the faults) still like Deadly Premonition.
