UK Top 40: Dead Island defeats Deus Ex

Space Marine, Resistance 3 in top five.

Zombie survival title Dead Island has devoured last week's number one Deus Ex: Human Revolution to claim the UK chart's top spot.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine entered close behind in second, while PlayStation 3 exclusive Resistance 3 entered fourth.

Nintendo remake Star Fox 64 3D entered in ninth while NHL 12 appeared in 12th.

Last week's other new entry, Kinect horror title Rise of Nightmares, could only muster a 37th placing.

Quirky 9/10 adventure El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron failed to make the top 40 altogether.

Against the deluge of new titles, Driver: San Francisco slipped into third. Deus Ex diminished to fifth. Codemasters shooter Bodycount, which launched last week in 36th place, disappeared altogether.

Zumba Fitness, Rugby World Cup, Lego Pirates and a budget-priced Gran Turismo 5 made up the rest of the top 10.

After buying both Dead Island and Warhammer... I can say I'm easily having much more fun with Space Marine. Sure, it's super simple and extremely linear. But I've NEVER felt like such a bad ass in a video game before. Running through hordes of orks with a Hammer and a bolter is so much fun.
  • toa_boa #2 9 months ago

Star Fox 64 3D going in as 9th is kind of impressive IMHO.
  • crimsoneer #3 9 months ago

DAMN YOU ZUMBA FITNESS. WHY WONT YOU DIE
  • CaptainQuint #4 9 months ago

A hearty congratulations to Techland, well deserved - Dead Island is ace!

6/10? Nah, EG are wrong. 3/10? Ha ha! Don't make me bloody laugh. Edge are out of touch and frankly, past it.

Seems that you can sell a turd with a good CGI trailer and adverts showing cutscenes.
  • MaFlippinHeadHurts #6 9 months ago

Watched my son play Dead Island last night. It’s strange looking at the gorgeous scenery and then all these hideous zombies come running out of nowhere!
  • Dave52 #7 9 months ago

Oh look Oli - an FPS sequel that no-one really asked for, in the Top Five...!
  • Bealsy #8 9 months ago

I've rarely seen any bugs in the 360 version of Dead Island. Couple of inventory glitches, and getting spawned in random places after dying. It really is a fantastic game co-op, which is what it's designed for.

Fly kicking a zombies head clean off is a pivotal moment of gaming.
  • Goodfella #9 9 months ago

Yup, Dead Island is a great game and Edge's 3/10 is laughable.

I have yet to experience what I would call a remotely unacceptable glitch or bug in it.
  • rojjer #10 9 months ago

    @IronGiant

maybe you should try actually playing the game?
  • PoundHound #11 9 months ago

Loving Dead Island too. Nowhere near as glitchy as I was led to believe (playing on the 360), just one or two minor hitches, but I've seen a hell of a lot worse in games that are held in much higher esteem.

Yet another EG article that hasn't been spell-checked :/
  • CaptainQuint #13 9 months ago

    Dead Island misconceptions:

"The Melee combat is rubbish". WRONG. it's friggin' brilliant! Easy to learn and very satisfying, gruesomely so. The zombie killing is a major strong point and a real highlight of the game.

"The graphics are crap, it's an ugly looking title". WRONG. It looks lovely. A rough diamond, rich with colour and detail. The island has a very real charm and appeal.

"There's no atmosphere". WRONG. There's bags of the stuff. That the game manages to be eerily creepy with a genuine sense of isolation; in such a lush, sun-kisses environment, is a real achievement. Throw in the quirky voice acting and the odd bug and you have the complete cult game package that is destined to be remembered by those who embrace it for what it is.

Shame about El Shaddai. Interesting game, but I couldn't quite get into the demo.
  • IronGiant #15 9 months ago

@rojjer I have played it, the reviews are pretty much spot on.
  • sonicyoda #16 9 months ago

Despite all the negativity towards El Shaddai, I am not regretting this purchase one bit. So brilliantly mental and a great little action game to boot.
  • chiefian #17 9 months ago

I still need to pick up Dead Island (probably after payday) as it does look quite fun, and I imagine it's hilarious in co-op.

Space Marine for me is by far the most fun I've had this year on a game. Not the best game, but the most fun game. I am literally War (and I'm voiced by Mark Strong).
  • 32768Colours #18 9 months ago

I must be the last person in the country not to own Zumba Fitness!

You'd have thought that everyone who wanted to Zumba at home would have bought the game by now.

    Although apparently not.
  • JHo #19 9 months ago

All I know is that I live in one of the larger cities in Canada and two days after Dead Island launched here EVERYONE is sold out. EVERYONE. Best Buy, Future Shop, Wal Mart, GameStop, Microplay, BlockBuster, Zellers, Staples. It's very strange. The clerk at GameStop told me they didn't receive a lot due to a poor pre-order turn out. He said that now he's getting hordes of people asking for it.

I've watched several YouTube videos of actual gameplay footage and really wish I hadn't listened to all the negative reactions (especially on EuroGamer) cause now I have to wait to play it. And I'm on holidays. (Goes and bangs his head against the sink slowly but forcefully...)
  • Liquidoodle #20 9 months ago

    YES! Good news!

Been playing dead island for a total of over 30 hours this weekend and i's bloody awesome!
Totally in agreement with Captain Quint!

Melee Combat is Rubbish - WRONG - I would say it's as much fun as Arkham Asylum, analogue stick fighting for the WIN!
Crap Graphics - WRONG - Simply beautiful at times!
No Atmosphere - WRONG - More atmosphere than Left 4 Dead easily.

It's easily better than Fallout, Borderlands and Left 4 Dead in my opinion, in fact why is Dead Island mocked for it's bugs when Fallout and Red Dead are far more glicthy!!!! Dan Whitehead is an idiot for giving this 6/10!

Best co-op game of all time, even more tactical than Battlefield :D

I'm happy with Space Marine and Resistance 3 doing well. Relic continue to create fantastic games with WH40k licence. Resistance 3 is brilliant (especially after the horrendous Resistance 2) and deserves some success.
  • Haloboy #23 9 months ago

Dead Island is destined to be the new Stalker I reckon. It's being embraced and thoroughly enjoyed by many and yet is still utterly misconceived by others as an utter waste of time and a mass disappointment. But in time it will get it's due and be recognised as something that was actually truly great and if indeed it's a success can only be improved upon in later outings.

I'd just like to +1 every single one of you who didn't allow reviews inc I'm sorry to say EG's own to dictate what you should or should not buy. Them there are true gamers and without you guys smaller devs such as Techland would fade away over night and real gaming gems such as Dead Island would disappear along with them.

I sincerely hope this news reaches Techland fast and they promptly have a massive piss up to celebrate. They deserve it.
  • BloodSaint #24 9 months ago

Damn Resistance is doing terrible, all these PS fanboys touting about all the PS exclusives is no use when you guys don't buy and support it...
Edit: Ahhh feel the wrath of PS fanboys. uhuh just to let you know Im a PC gamer and Im sick of hearing PS fanboys boasting about their exclusives on every gaming website I mean seriously... Look at Resistance sales numbers, Its even below Driver for crying out loud...

Dead Island is bloody great. No idea why it got a 6 to be honest, it's not the first buggy game to also be brilliant.

I tried to buy NHL 12 today and couldn't find a copy...
  • Bullet_Tunnel #26 9 months ago

Dead island is great, played it solidly with 4 friends all weekend, had not read much other than robs (imo wrong) review, and so far have been really pleased, along with others who were expecting worse. Had a couple of glitched missions-(easily fixed though, just reload checkpoint) froze my box twice, due to someones bad connection, very very good game with a team. left4dead meet borderlands, cant be bad, despite frame rate and texture issue. btw... any word on the patch?

    Quite like Bodycount.

No glitches so far on Dead Island for me (360) it's a good game, just starts off pretty boring but stick with it a while and it comes into it's own. Perhaps would've been better with AI teammates (L4D style) seeing as all NPC's and cutscenes refer to and show you as a group even if you're playing alone though.
  • TelexStar #28 9 months ago

I played Dead Island co-op with 3 other people last night and there are definitely some frustrating glitches. (opening the inventory while being a passenger in a car caused the inventory to not open at all until I quit back to dashboard and restarted). But the game is still loads and loads of fun.

  • MontyBrewster #29 9 months ago

Actually Resistance 3 has done pretty well, number 1 in the PS3 chart, number 2 in the individual formats.

When resistance 2 came out in 2008 it charted at number 10, then plummeted to 20 a week later.

  • ollyn #30 9 months ago

I am enjoying Resistance 3 far more than dead island (although admittedly I have only played an hour of the latter). It's also the highest rating single platform release this week so it hardly seems like a poor performance and lets face it Resistance is not one of the Playstations heavy hitters. It's not and Uncharted, God of War, LBP etc...

It is in all fairness another shooter in a year that has already seen KZ3 released and is running into MW3 and battlefield 3. I would say to anyone with a playstation though that Resistance 3 is an exceptional game and definitely not one you want to miss. I would even be so bold as to say the weapons in Resistance will be more fun than the ones in upcoming MW3 and BF3. (I can't really quantify this at all but i predict another run and gun with Machine gun, Shotgun, Pistol in the offing. Exploding Magum, Auger, bullseye ftw)
  • Haloboy #31 9 months ago

What I tend to hear most from people I know who took a chance and picked it up is "whoa this is awesome, I expected it to be completely fucked!!!". That my friends is the negative influence of questionable reviews (fuck you EDGE tbh) and the power of saying you know what? Screw it. I'm buying it anyway.

I doubt said people could happier with the game what they were expecting and the game they actually played.
  • sonicyoda #32 9 months ago

How is Resistance 3 at number 4 bad? That's a bloody good performance for a game that's only available on ONE FORMAT.
  • Trendyninja #33 9 months ago

It's a long time since a game made me feel so edgy. I literally got a wave of panic playing this last night. Simple task of getting some petrol pumps up and running. After I had cleared part of the garage and powered the pumps back on I was stood filling a petrol can when the most god awful hideous scream came from nowhere. This was at the point when my arse started going 20p50p20p50p I decided to say f**k it to filling the petrol can and run back to the petrol station shop, with about 3 zombies screaming and yelling steaming up behind me., I couldn't close the door in time and let out a girl yelp to the shock of my wife. Awesome I say!
  • Liquidoodle #34 9 months ago

@Trendyninja - What... you went out there alone!?
  • vmanb #35 9 months ago

Some of the graphic design in dead island is quite frankly disgusting, and i'm loving every minute of it. No1 in the charts as i thought it would be and well deserved imo

Cool, 40k came in at 2nd.Did not think that many people would buy it.Hope they are all enjoying it as much as me.
  • SecretStage #37 9 months ago

Im really enjoying Dead Island, I especially like kicking the zombies to the floor then waiting for them to stick there arse up so i can boot them into the swimming pool and watch them drown. Also throwing a red canister at the zombies legs and watching them topple over is slapstick gold.
  • makariel #38 9 months ago

There are still people buying Homefront? o.Oa

I got Space Marine this week since I don't like zombies, zombie-movies or zombie-games. Resistance? I was bored to tears by Resistance 2, no intention to buy any more Resistance games.
  • silversun #39 9 months ago

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron - after see all the postive reviews for it , its a game i might pick up in few months but not now.
Great to see xenobade still in top 40.

Rise of Nightmares- hardcore games for kinect getting off to a good start?

resistance 3 seems be getting postive reviews.
  • zegerman1942 #40 9 months ago

"Codemasters shooter Bodycount, which launched last week in 36th place, disappeared altogether." Ouch, so that's probably less than 2k copies sold this week then...
  • Trendyninja #41 9 months ago

    @Liquidoodle

Yep...crazy and stupid I guess lol!
  • Zozzilla #42 9 months ago

I passed up on Dead Island due to a lack of money after getting Space Marine and El Shaddai, but I'm itching to get it. >.<

On the subject of the crazy religious WTF-fest that is El Shaddai...the full game is so much better than the demo. It drew me in right from the start cos it builds up to the crazy instead of just...dumping you in the middle of it like in the demo.
  • Lycanthroat #43 9 months ago

Maybe El Shaddai would have done better if it got some BLOODY ADVERTISING.

It's always the same with these obscure Japanese types - lots of critical praise, but bugger all promotion. I couldn't even find it on Friday! Will pop out later this week to see if I can hunt it down.
  • TruSmiles #44 9 months ago

Wow, really glowing recommendations fro Dead Island here! I was thinking of getting it for the hubby and I, as we both love playing Left 4 Dead's co-op, but I'll admit that the reviews did put me off. What's the co-op like in Dead Island?
  • HyperTails #45 9 months ago

Finished Resistance 3 over the weekend. Its definately my GOTY, a complete fitting end to the series, and the best one. Works brilliantly with Move, and the online is excellent.
  • ZuluHero #46 9 months ago

    @Trendyninja

What you said is essentially my experience of it too! :D

Most of the scenarios are awesome and scary, and most importantly varied and interesting. There have been a couple of filler quests, but on the whole the main ones are ace. If you watch a lot of zombie movies, most of the things they do are in this. You can see that the team at techland/deep silver are zombie movie aficionados and kudos to them for recreating a lot of them in Dead Island with the same atmosphere and gusto.

Really glad it's doing well after all the controversy and negativity.
  • johnson81 #47 9 months ago

I think over the next few months a couple of franchises may actually be killed off. Releasing games this close together is insane and good quality games will not sell. Games I am/were interested in include Deus Ex, Driver, El Shaddai, Dead Island, F1, Battlefield, Batman, Skyrim, MW3, Resistance 3, Gears 3, Trackmania, Payday: The Heist, Dark Souls, Rage plus a few others. There are some who can afford all these titles but the majority will wait until a price drop. I ordered 5 out of all of these.
  • Retro_ #48 9 months ago

Well done DEAD ISLAND, now if only my copy would turn up ( it's lost in the post and I can't contact The Hut for 10 working days !! )
  • Retro_ #49 9 months ago

@Dave52. Resistance 3 is great actually and I wanted it... is that ok with you?
  • Munkhee #50 9 months ago

    @TruSmiles

Dead Island is - hands down - the best co-op game I have ever played. Played for 30 hours with two mates over the weekend. Superb fun!
  • Dave52 #51 9 months ago

    @Retro_

Fine by me mate - I got it too and it is brilliant. I was having a dig at EG for suggesting that no-one wanted a third installment. I think 4th Place for a PS3 exclusive in a swamped genre is pretty bloody good!
  • MaFlippinHeadHurts #52 9 months ago

@Trendyninja – reading your post made me laugh out loud in the office……..and I’m supposed to be working hard at the minute!
  • Bravestinsane #53 9 months ago

    Loving dead island.

Only bug/glitch i have is sometimes when i pick up a bottle of alchohol it equips itself and a jump kick will cause you to drink it.... outcome is more funny than annoying.

Still 20 hours in, just got to act 3, looking to be about 10hours per act for me, so easily a 30 hour + game, very happy with it.
  • liquid-s #54 9 months ago

This brings a huge smile to my face. I was very worried about my pre-order for Dead Island when I seen some of the poor reviews comming in for it but as I have time and time again I decided to trust my instincts and keep my pre-order. I got the game on wednesday and it is absolutely brilliant.

Deus Ex is still my GOTY upto now but Dead Island is a very, very close second imho. I love it. I'm not sure why its been tainted with such bad reviews. I wonder if half the people even played it for more than 5 minutes before making such rushed judgments.

I think the game has plenty of atmosphere, beautiful settings and a really decent combat system once you get used to it for a while. I've had endless hours of fun with it already and can't wait to play it again in co-op. Brilliant game with some minor bugs(lets face it there are a couple so called triple A titles out there that have got away with far, far worst on launch) and endless hours of fun to be had.
  • Retro_ #55 9 months ago

@Dave52.... sorry my friend, it's very easy to read a comment and mistake it's intended tone. I beg your forgiveness :)
  • makeamazing #56 9 months ago

Dead Island is probably GOTY for me so far, I can look past slow loading textures and some bugs, because there is so much entertainment to be found in the game. Sometimes i think reviewers/gamers forget the joy of playing.
  • syra #57 9 months ago

Glad space marine is doing well
  • HyperTails #58 9 months ago

    @EddieMink

No, you're wrongly assuming, i've played loads of games this year.

Oh, wait, I forgot for a second. This is the internet, where if you don't like something that automatically means its crap and others should hate it too. Opinions serve no purpose, and all that.
  • Liquidoodle #59 9 months ago

@makeamazing - Worth saying the slow loading textures are about on par with Mass Effect and every other Unreal Engine based game too, at least there's no noticeable LOD pops like Fallout 3... urk lol ;)
  • CaptainQuint #60 9 months ago

All of this GotY talk can only mean one thing: people have forgotten that Portal 2 was released this year, not last.
  • Liquidoodle #61 9 months ago

@EddieMink - I can't calm down, need to maintain my air of alertness so the zombies don't get me... you haven't seen it out there! It's a mess! I went up to Tesco to get some milk and I was horrified at the shambling horrors walking down the dairy isle :( one of them even murdered the words "Big Brother"... luckily I ran away before she vomited at me the dirty floater! :p
  • makeamazing #62 9 months ago

I enjoyed Portal2, but it doenst have anywhere near as much depth as Dead Island. Portal is certainly on my enjoyed list (though i havent actually finished it yet), Infamous 2 was very enjoyable, and Deus Ex was good (but the walking around to missions was a little boring).

I think someone else said it in an earlier post, i've seen less bugs in DI so far than i did in Fallout3, and i loved fallout 3 (100% 60 hours all DLC), but that game got alot less hassle for its bugs than this game has. Brotherhood of Steel was an abomination on PS3, at times going to 1FPS.

As i said, its all about looking past some issues and just enjoying it for what it is.

  • Battlegoff #63 9 months ago

Well done Techland, I've had lots of fun with Dead Island..highlight? Instant Death Flying Kick to an Infected's face is really awesome, even better because it all happened in slow motion :D
  • WeakOrbit #64 9 months ago

I'm enjoying Dead Island at the moment despite the fact that the people look far worse off than the zombies. What's up with the women though? Did everyones Grandmother go on holidays yeeesh. But yeah the Ps3 version has a noticeable load for textures and aside from that not much else I can complain about.

But yeah El Shaddai, demo doesn't do it justice.
  • tankboi #65 9 months ago

El Shaddai: Ablutions of Megatron, is a really enjoyable game, it really deserved to make the top 40!

Goes to show how afraid people are of 'something new' maybe?

I heard the demo was crap, which probably didn't help. I bought it on impulse and very glad I did.
  • TruSmiles #66 9 months ago

@Munkhee Thanks for your thoughts, I think I'm convinced enough to get a hold of Dead Island :)

It seems that both Dead Island and El Shaddai are pretty underrated by critics, which doesn't really help their cause at all, especially when I had previously written them both off :/
  • cowell #67 9 months ago

I'm tempted by the reviews of El Shaddai and I'm not afraid of something different.

Less than 1000 sales total in its first week, just shows how risk averse most consumers and therefore most retailers are being at the moment
  • HyperTails #68 9 months ago

    @EddieMink

Go try and find someone else to argue with, i'm not bothered what you think.
  • HyperTails #69 9 months ago

    @EddieMink

Pathetic. I've seen you arguing with other people on here before, and making posts like that to no doubt make you sound really intelligent. Though you're nothing more than a troll... one which is now joining coolbritannia on my ignore list.
  • Munkhee #70 9 months ago

    @TruSmiles

    No problem at all :-)

I should probably mention that there isn't a splitscreen option though, in case that's relevant. Online co-op only.

Dead Island hasn't thrown up any unacceptable bugs for me either, even the "bruddahs" bit. Sure it's not perfect...

But at least it's no Fallout: New Vegas release...
  • Bullet_Tunnel #72 9 months ago

@cowell- i dont think its people choosing not to buy, its more that people havent been TOLD to buy, if more than 25% of human population thought for themselves we would live in a totally alien planet, no longer would we have dirge like xfactor, and all the scientists working on "gene-enhanced, bio thermal anti friz shampoo" would have to work on less impressive things like curing aids and cancer. If you could get el shaddai, put a pair of plastic tits, a vocoda auto tune song, put it in a room of braindead celebs so we can watch it sleep, then have 24/7 references to it in every form of media available, it would sell, for about a month, till every other greedy buisnessman puts copy after carbon copy of it out-because "its what consumers want" (after 2 months bombardment with propaganda)
  • Drebbin #73 9 months ago

Let’s not be too scathing of the people who review these games, they have their opinions just like we do. I was as shocked as most when seeing a 6/10, that being said it didn’t put me off my pre-order for one minute! I’m very much with the majority in praising this game and it developers. In fact I would go so far as to say it is likely right up there with my other favourite games.

Yes, it has its bugs and yes it might not be everyone cup of tea, but after sinking 15-20 hours to this over the weekend I can honestly say I’ve yet to think of a better co-op experience. 2 people pumping gas into containers whilst 1 other fends off screaming, rabid zombies as I sit in a truck (usually screaming “s**t, they’re coming! HURRY THE F**K UP!!!) was one of the better memories I have of this game, another was jumping from car roof to car roof while the infected surround you waving there hands as you boot them to the ground looking for a gap in the crowd to the next car roof, was another.

My friends and I are having sooooo much fun with this at the moment that I’ve not even looked at another game over the weekend. So lets not be too disappointed with someone else’s opinion on what they believe is fun! I instead just feel very, very sorry for the Edge reviewer and anyone who would blindly listen to their outdated views! 3/10 HA you’re having a laugh!!!
  • IOnlyUseSkill #74 9 months ago

Resistance 3 deserves to be higher than 4th in my opinion. Excellent campaign and it's multiplayer is pretty good as well. It's better than Killzone 3 in my opinion and one of my contenders for game of the year along with Deus Ex:HR and Portal 2.

Why do people think El Shaddai is "something different"?

It's Bayonetta/Devil May Cry/90% of movie tie-in games with a different coat of wacky-paint. It deserves to be an utter commercial bomb because that boring, utterly shallow, button mashing genre is ten-a-penny now.

Dressing it up in different clothes doesn't change the fact that the majority of people couldn't care less about that type of game anymore because once you've played one, you've played them all.

It's a shame that once again an original IP like El Shaddai completely fails to make an impact on the market. They'll stop trying soon, and everything you buy will have a number after it, or be an XBLA/PSN title. On the other hand, I'm looking forward to picking it up for a few pence in a couple of weeks.

Dead Island is an original IP and it's number one.

    @spudsbuckley

Sometimes it is how its dressed up actually.

Its like playing a concept painting the whole time which is an absolute delight and certainly 'something different'.

Please play it first before you charge in with your short sighted slander and assumptions.

p.s. plus its absolutely f***** mental. I mean total bat-shit loco. Which also makes it quite refreshing. They certainly had some balls when creating it. Shame they won't bother again since no one bought it.

It seems daft to release Resistance 3 on a Friday meaning it only had 2 days of sales to count towards it's chart place.

One hell of a game and pisses over any Halo titlle that's appeared on the 360.

Certainly a game of the year contender.

Finished R3 last weekend. It falls short to be a classic but it's a very good singleplayer game, much different from it's predecessors aswell. Everybody who didn't like R2 should give this one a chance. It's much better and best FPS this year for me.

I must be the only one in the world who hasn't purchased Black Ops, i wish there was a trophy for that.
  • JHo #82 9 months ago

    @Ahskay,

Trust me there are quite a few people that didn't buy Black Ops. The last COD title I bought was the first Modern Warfare (was that number four? I get so confused when games get re-released every year.) I finished the "campaign" so quickly when the end title screen came up I honestly thought it was the beginning and everything I had just played was an intro.

I'm not a troll or a fanboy and live and let live. But God, I despise everything about the Call of Duty series. Fucking unlimited, respawning enemies in this day and age? Please. Is it 1994 again?

Well as everything in the UK, bar the odd exception, gets released on a Friday it's the same for all games.

    Lol? Not sure if serious.

Not surprised about Dead Island. It's the sort of game that would attract a no.1 chart position!
I am glad StarFox 64 has charted well, it's a sure fine best release of last week.

Not surprised about El Shaddai: Ascension as well. No one apart the hardest of gamers would want something so different. I didn't like the demo much so it's a sort of title that myself look for when it's reduced to £9.99!! Definite bargain! LOL!

BTW: what's the highest charted Xbox exclusive there!?
LOL! - the 3DS has more exclusives in the top 40 than the Xbox 360!!

    @Hindle

You are aware that the only games to beat Resistance 3 is the charts are multi-platform? I think taking the number 4 spot is pretty damned impressive for a single platform release!

Got my Dead Island at last, and depsite some strange reviews, I'm enjoying it a lot. The same way shooting zombies in the L4D games, never gets old, beating on zombies in more physical ways never gets old either.

While its very Lost meets The Walking Dead, it does so very well. Its enough for me to say that Dead Island is 2011's sleeper hit game, especially after grabbing that number one spot.

I wonder how Square Enix are seeing this, as they are getting a lot of press, because of Deus Ex and Dead Island (which they re publishing in the U.S). I don't think they've ever had such success with two games. Just shows, it can pay to invest in western studios.

Spacedelete: "looks like ps3 owners are all bark no bite. resistance 3 flopped it even got beat by driver AHAHAHA!!!"

You had to edit that - Brilliant. There are 2 PS3 exclusives in the top 20. Tell me, where was the highest placed 360 exclusive? Hmmm.... just the one, Rise of Nightmares - straight in at number 37. How's that Kinect thing working out for you?

Space Marine had me at the opening video.

    "EXTERMINATUS?"

    "NEGATIVE! STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE ABSOLUTE!"

    "AFFIRMATIVE - DESPATCHING ULTRAMARINES"

    \o/

8/10. Pushes 9 territory when you get to play with a Jet Pack and Thunder Hammer.

Played Dead Island for an hour in 3 player co-op and it was a whole lot of fun. Cant wait to get stuck into it for a proper sesh tonight.
