Devil May Cry HD Collection for Xbox

ESRB rating suggests imminent reveal.

The Devil May Cry HD Collection revealed as coming to the PlayStation 3 looks set for the Xbox 360, too.

US rating board the ESRB lists Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2 and Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening for release on the PS3 and Xbox 360 (spotted by G4TV).

With the Tokyo Game Show right around the corner, a reveal is imminent.

In June a Spanish shop listed the Devil May Cry HD Collection for launch in Europe on the PlayStation 3 on 30th November.

I would be all over this.

mildly excited about that - maybe i'll be negged fot that, but i think games from these series didn't aged very well - it's not like with mgs or silent hill collection where we'll have great story and atmosphere - these games ruled because of their action packed gameplay ( let's pretend dms2 don't exist, shall we : ) ) - but today, how does dmc 1 and 3 look next to bayonetta or vanquish? they kind of pale in comparsion

Being a 360 owner and a fan of DMC1 & 3SE, this is good news indeed. Except for the fact it contains DMC2, which is all kinds of shit.

It will be interesting to see how Capcom handles this... I can't imagine anything less than say the "remaster" treatment of GoW1&2, but do they consider a clean up-res enough? Could it even be easier to import those games to the DMC4 engine, for something more along the lines of Halo Anniversary? Honestly not sure what I'd prefer, but it's a deserving legacy, and I think it has a chance to earn a fair few newer fans.

With all these 3 games in a box things coming out I'm having a hard time not just buying these and waiting for the 60 bucks games to drop. DMC3 in HD with trophy's/achievements sounds great.

    @kassmageant

Don't know. MGS hardly plays as well as today's games either. And SH always was fiddly to begin with. Sur the story might be great but they're still old games. I'm not buying them for the cutscenes (which is why I won't go near MGS anymore, I've had enough exposition)

Well it wouldn't hurt sales immediately but if ninja theory screws up it would look even worse next to revamped gems live DMC 1 & 3

While I was never a fan of the series, I'm always pleased to hear about re-releases of games from that era. What I'd really like to see from Capcom, re-release-wise, is Resident Evil Remake.
  • SteveHolt #9 9 months ago

This means we'll get to play them in 60Hz... I remember playing those on PS2, and we had black borders and lower framerate compared to the japanese version.

Excellent news if true; this + Resident Evil + MGS for xbox will sort Xmas out nicely.
  • kassmageant #11 9 months ago

@menage - i can see your point, but i personally still find more reasons to play remakes which i mentioned

SH represents genre that is missing from the market nowadays - true survival horror - resi 5 or dead space, as undeniably fun they were, are more in line of " LOOK A MONSTER! SHOOT THE SHIT OUT OF IT!11!" genre than proper horror.

and about mgs - peacewalker will have online, mgs 3 got probably best storyin the series, and mgs 2 is so bat-shit insane that i can happily relive all it's WTF moments : )

I think the only one I played was the demo of DMC4 (or whatever game is available on the 360). Enjoyed it but never got around actually buying it so this looks like a good chance to catch up with this franchise.
  • shirotsku #13 9 months ago

Potensh purchase as never got round to playing any of the PS2 ones.
  • TeaFiend #14 9 months ago

DMC1 had rather different controls, did it not?
  • Architect_z #15 9 months ago

The first DMC is my favourite. At the time it was like a resident evil game but with infinite ammo and a huge sword. Interested. ^_^

On a side note, I wish all these werent 'collections' and that the games could be sold seperatley. I didnt like DMC2, and (although I love it) i've played DMC3 to death. I'd just want the first one. Same with all the collections so far, I just want one out of the collection.

  • NeoKenzi #17 9 months ago

Defo! I love the DMC series
  • geeza2020 #18 9 months ago

Wow, an HD collection that actually includes the original game!! Unlike others I could mention *coughMGS* *coughSilentHill*
  • bikmate #19 9 months ago

Worst cover art ever! I hope that ain't official and is just a mock-up.
  • drumbaby #20 9 months ago

Wonderful....I would even look forward to DMC 2, at high rez and with a better frame rate. Some of the city-based stuff and boss fights chugged big-time on PS2.

And can we map the jump button to X on DMC 1 please????!!!
  • JoeGBallad #21 9 months ago

That box art is a mock up that *shudder* gamesradar made a few months back.
  • Darren #22 9 months ago

I could live without the second game, which I thought was poor, but the other two are classics IMO. Depending on how good the conversions are (i.e. Ubisoft sub-standard or Sly Cooper/God of War I/II superb) then I may buy it.

Looks like the games industry is running as low on ideas as Hollywood are with all these HD 'remakes' though... ;)
  • sfp_noodle #23 9 months ago

Sweet! The only collections I want now are a Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, and Final Fantasy HD collection. Those are the only remaining classics from last gen that haven't been updated. It's only a matter of time though. In fact I can see this generation of gaming ending with a whole wave of HD collections being released to make a quick buck before the new one starts. I won't be complaining too much if they're done right though.
  • inutaihanyou #24 9 months ago

DMC 1 and 3, fine. 2 can go die.
  • HASJ #25 9 months ago

At least now we won't get slow downs everytime a Sloth shoots sand from his stomach.
  • xuiton #26 9 months ago

wow another company re-releasing non-classic games just to make a quick buck, in HD of course.
  • Mister-Wario #27 9 months ago

I never got round to trying these games. Like the Sly Trilogy, perhaps I'll check this out.
  • dean1110 #28 8 months ago
