UK Top 40: Deus Ex dethrones Zumba

Rugby World Cup enters in third.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution has stormed the UK all-formats chart, finally shoving Zumba Fitness off of the top spot.

505 Games' Rugby World Cup entered in third, just 400 sales behind Zumba.

Xbox 360 sales of Deus Ex counted for 57 per cent of its total. PlayStation 3 notched up 31 per cent while just 13 per cent of copies were sold on PC - although Chart-Track doesn't count digital downloads.

Human Revolution is already just 26,000 copies away from beating predecessor Deus Ex: Invisible War's lifetime sales.

Wii-exclusive RPG Xenoblade Chronicles falls from seventh to 27th, while Nintendo's DS football RPG Inazuma Eleven lands in 39th.

Elsewhere in the top 10, Lego Pirates was fourth while Call of Duty: Black Ops rose from 18th to fifth, buoyed by recent price drops and the launch of the zombie map pack Rezurrection.

Cars 2, FIFA 11, Dirt 3, Lego Harry Potter and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood make up the rest of the top flight.

Eurogamer plays Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Well deserved if you asked me. Considering how god damn awful Deus Ex: Invisible War was I'm incredibly taken back at how great Human Revolution is. I'm on the final stretch and I really don't want this game to end! :C

Very glad to see deus ex doing well, it certainly deserves to. If they manage to maintain this quality level, AC may have a franchise competition, which means more good games for me.

Typical, xbox nearly double ps3 sales. I do wonder why a lot of UK stores have ps3 in better positions than xbox when in UK xbox is about double in sales. Also pc sales are big. Top on download charts.

Oh and deus ex is fantastic game. Feels a lot like original, which is maybe the greatest game ever.

Well done Deus Ex! Hurrah for knocking off Zumba (though I doubt for long...).

I bought Human Revolution on PS3 and it is excellent so far - only managed to get through the first proper mission last night, after about 3 hours of play! I was faffing about quite a lot and doing a lot of restarting when I was spotted. Its the mark of a good game when you don't mind playing through a long section of one mission multiple times, trying different tactics to suss out the limits of the AI and other systems. Excellent fun, looking forward to it ramping up!

I'd prefer configurable controls though, I keep hitting R2 to shoot and subsequently throw grenades everywhere when I intended to silently tranquilise someone..... :(

Well done Deus Ex! May you remain on top for a few weeks!

@snufkin. Yeah same, got used to controls now. Took about ten re load screens to get me to use the correct buttons. Doing stealth type this time, cloak, multi take down, fall from height, see through walls type character. Next time full armor, no recoil, full hack, full strength. Oh the fun.

It's a bit annoying that Nintendo distributed Xenoblade so poorly. It sold out almost everywhere online and it wasn't even stocked at any of the supermarkets in my area.

Lots of buzz and excitement over the game, some great reviews yet Nintendo could've even be bothered to give it a half decent distribution, despite publishing it themselves and it having no AAA Nintendo games to compete with.

Yes! Deus Ex is a supergood game so I'm glad to see it at #1. Just hope it will get a sequel in 2 years or so :)

13% on PC just hard copy sales. Thats really good imo, as everyone I know bought it off steam/ get games. I reckon the real figure is closer to 30%.

As others have said, well deserved, great game. On my first playthrough as a psuedo-stealth, although I still kill people, especially with my silenced pistol its just too tempting not to pop em in the face with it. At least 2 more playthroughs coming, one as a guns blazing dick and one all stealth no kills.

"while just 13 per cent of copies were sold on PC - although Chart-Track doesn't count digital downloads. "

    *sigh*

So why bother publishing these worthless figures?

Gabe Newell has stated that Portal 2 on PC outsold _all other formats_, when you include downloads. I'd be surprised if a PC fanboy favourite like Deus Ex: HR hasn't done similar business. But articles like this reinforce false "PC gaming is dying" nonsense.

Well deserved. Right up there with The Witcher 2 as games of the year so far.

Currently doing an all stealth, no kills playthrough and loving it.

Gabe Newell should release Steam sale figures, but he never does. Now it's just a question of 'Steam says Steam triumphant'.

    Great news and great game!
  • lavalant #17 9 months ago

Shame about Xenoblade Chronicles, but what other game in the charts is SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE.
  • onyxbox #18 9 months ago

The reason this has sold better on 360 is because the 360 is more popular in the UK and I got the impression before release that the 360 community have been more eagerly awaiting this game to come out than PS3 owners.
  • DoctorFraud #19 9 months ago

Deus Ex isnt a long string of QTEs so PS3 owners are going to be confused by it.

Their weekly God of Bore release should keep the little mongtards busy.

    WTF are you talking about?
  • kassmageant #21 9 months ago

well deus ex is not that surprising, but what the hell is this zumba shit??
  • RobTheBuilder #22 9 months ago

So including download DE:HR is already way past DE:IW...

Thank you, Eidos. After Invisible War and the collapse of Ion Storm, the Deus Ex franchise was dead in the water. Complicated and expensive games to make, I can totally understand why Eidos was reluctant to green light another. I am relieved to see Human Revolution getting the commercial success that it deserves. This bodes well for Thief 4.
  • Snufkin #24 9 months ago

Personally I quite liked Invisible War....
  • Feanor #25 9 months ago

13% is a high percentage for PC considering it only counts retail. The "just" is unjustified.
  • sabbede #26 9 months ago

    Congrats to the good game!

Worst part of DeusEx: It ended.

"Personally I quite liked Invisible War.... "

It's true that it suffers mainly in comparison to the first; I'd say it's an above-average game and definitely worth playing, despite its flaws (tiny levels, a bit too much dumbing down, and a main character who isn't very inspiring); if you get it on PC, install the high rez texture pack.
