Nintendo to offer free Zelda tickets

For symphony-loving UK Club Nintendo fans.

UK Club Nintendo members will soon be given the chance to win free tickets to London's Zelda Symphony tour, Nintendo has told Eurogamer.

The London concert is the only fixture of the Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony tour planned for Europe. It will feature a live orchestra performing music from throughout the Legend of Zelda series.

"UK Club Nintendo members will soon be able to receive information regarding a special chance to win free tickets to the London performance," Nintendo told Eurogamer today. "More details on this will be released soon."

Normally tickets prices for the event start at £38.50. The most expensive seats cost £110.50 and include the chance to meet members of the orchestra after the show.

Nintendo's competition is a consolation for UK fans yet to buy tickets, and it comes as the company cleared up confusion over a previous offer that listed Zelda tickets at a cheaper price for all UK Club Nintendo members.

Nintendo fans were offered a 15 per cent discount on tickets when purchased with a special Club Nintendo code, but this code was exclusive to US Club Nintendo fans. This was an error and has now been amended, Nintendo clarified to Eurogamer today.

Gamers were previously able to select the discounted tickets, which had the cheaper prices visible, although were then unable to complete their purchases due to Nintendo not having issued the necessary code to redeem the offer.

US Club Nintendo members are currently being offered that same 15 per cent discount when buying tickets for the tour's Los Angeles leg. Gamers simply enter the word "Zelda" to unlock the cheaper price.

But this promotion is only for American gamers, Nintendo has now clarified: "This is a special offer only available to US Club Nintendo members and as such has been removed. We would like to apologise for any confusion caused," Nintendo explained.

Tickets for the Zelda 25th Anniversary tour are currently still available via Ticketmaster.

The tour includes music from throughout the Zelda series.

Competition eh? Keep us informed Nintendo/Eurogamer. I'd very much like to enter this one.

By the by, has anybody else noticed Nintendo have been pretty vague with their promotions/giveaways recently? For example, to qualify for the free 3DS games I was told all I had to do was log in to the shop, and I've done that a few times, but Nintendo hasn't actually sent any cast-iron confirmation that I've qualified for ambassador programme.

    Just a thought.

    Love you Nintendo!

Would love to go but London seems so far away.....

Not much of a "tour", now is it?

This sounds like a wonderful idea, but considering I've only actually played one Zelda game to completion I daresay that someone else would get more of a benefit from this than I would.

I was on the ticketmaster page 10 minutes after they had gone on sale. There was no option to choose seats, meaning first come-first served meant nothing. Had to refresh the page until they offered me half-decent seats, which took about 40 minutes. Poorly planned tbh, and for only ONE day? Anyway, I got two tickets, and I'm still excited, even though I'm not sitting at the front!

Nintendo seem to be giving away a lot of free stuff this year, good on them

But.... but.... the music isn't even that good.

Evidently I don't get out the Apollo as often as I should (just down the road), but the admin fees are insane - £33 for the ticket, £5 in booking fees and £2 to have the tickets emailed to you! £40 total for the acoustically sub-par seats is pushing it a bit, honestly. Admittedly, I doubt they'll have much trouble selling out the only date in the only venue for an entire continent...

Wonder if it will be for the people who've registered the most Zelda Stars cards?

While blame rests on Nintendo for this particular bit of confusion, I'm very annoyed about the ticketmaster site, as it originally told that all of the cheaper stalls seating had been sold out. As a result, I was forced to have to go with the more expensive circle seating and from the looks of this map, it didn't even give me the best it could've done with that!

    @Razorus

I had much the same issue. I ended up with a less than optimal seat as it looked like that was all it was offering. Checking now it looks like there are plenty of better seats still available.

I was lucky when I bought my tickets, I did get a great seat but probably only because I was hitting refresh every 10 seconds until the page was finally online so I was amongst the first to get one. However I also only found out later that you can actually choose your seat. It really isn't that obvious at first and when I let the site choose for me for fun afterwards I got really weird seats as well.

other than the top whack tickets, they pretty much sold out within 40 minutes from the 10am opening sale time.
I'm no massive zelda fanboy, but I know great soundtrack music when I hear it. This is an event not to be missed as often the UK doesn't get a foot in.

I would have recommended getting the tickets via the telephone. I got absolutely stellar seats and managed to call through to book 5 minutes prior to the online sales. Shouldn't always rely on tech when old fashioned ways can be just as good if not better.

@Razorus, the front seats were ridiculously overpriced, and given the acoustic nature of the apollo, you'd be better off with a more distant seat. Its not like you go to watch orchestra's perform to watch them play

Tickets start at £38.50, eh? That's a bit much for me. If they were half that price, I'd consider it. I think I'll just listen to my Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Wind Waker soundtrack CDs instead.
