GameStop selling Nintendo 3DS for £135

How low can you go?

UK online retailer GameStop.co.uk has cut the price of the Nintendo 3DS to £135.

£134.97, to be exact, with free delivery.

The move is ahead of Nintendo's official UK 3DS price-cut, set for this Friday.

Nintendo's 3DS price cut is a bid to boost disappointing sales in time for Christmas.

In Europe Nintendo does not set the price of hardware. Game, though, lists the handheld with an RRP of £230, and currently sells it for £195.

GameStop's aggressive offer is sure to spark a new price war for the console this week. Will a UK shop dare to go below £100?

Well, well, well. That is a low price.

Still no purchase for me. NEEDS SOME GAMES.
  • jsf132 #2 10 months ago

If the 3DS drops below £100, I will snap one up straight away.

Edit: However, at £135 it's tempting to grab one at that price AND take advantage of all those free games before the 12th.

    I'm betting we'll see a sub £100 3DS this year.
  • f00b_inc #4 10 months ago

I think I will buy one if I see it for £100
  • cous #5 10 months ago

If you can get the handheld and register it online before the programme ends thats a good darn deal! You better have next day delivery set though ends tommorow midnight! 20 free games
  • anthonypappa #6 10 months ago

still wouldn't interest me below £100. looks like the gimmick angle didn't work.

    take note wii-U.
  • Vitor #7 10 months ago

Have no interest in a 3DS right now but, hell, at less than £100, I'd snap one up for Zelda/Mario and Starfox, no problem.
  • LazyDan #8 10 months ago

Wish it'd give you some kind of confirmation that you're in the programme. I keep signing into the eShop just to be sure :(

£135 for a 3DS and those twenty free games is absolutely a bargain though. Grab yourself one or more out of Street Fighter, Pilotwings, Zelda, Ridge Racer, Resi: Mercs and/or Ghost Recon on top (delete as per tastes/current ownership) and you've easily got enough to tide you over until November time - which I still consider to be the time of the real launch.
  • skunkfish #9 10 months ago

I'm pretty sure there's no chance of receiving this before the 12th August...
  • ZuluHero #10 10 months ago

I read that as "Game stop selling Nintendo 3DS for £135" :)

Price is getting mighty tempting though now!
  • makeamazing #11 10 months ago

Even at that price, there still isnt anything i want to play on it.
  • skunkfish #12 10 months ago

I concur with EddieMink, Ghost Recon is indeed 'pure ace'. What's even more ace is that I picked it up new for under a tenner...
  • robbiejc85 #13 10 months ago

Bloody hell. And there was I just about to pick up a DSi for £115! I wanted to taste the awesome DS catalogue before Super Mario Land 3D and the inevitable 3DS-lite, but now I might as well just play them on this..
  • iamtheoneneo #14 10 months ago

even express delivery is 1-3 days by RM, and what are the chances that they even have stock? and if they do then you have to essentially hope they process your order today.

might as well just wait till friday!
  • cawley1 #15 10 months ago

I bet if you nip down the pub in a number of areas of Britain this week you'll be able to pic up a 3DS for significantly less than £100!!
  • paulf #16 10 months ago

    @LazyDan
'Wish it'd give you some kind of confirmation that you're in the programme.'

    totally agree with this
  • Widge #17 10 months ago

I saw it for £125 in Birchwoods QVC outlet store..
  • MattEdWithCheese #18 10 months ago

below £100? the 3DS is going to be cheaper than the DSIXL and now you want it to be cheaper than the DS lite?

@LazyDan If you recently installed a system update that seemingly did nothing then that's your confirmation
  • Toothball #19 10 months ago

    @LazyDan

I've also been logging in every few days to make sure. I even watched the Ambassador Programme video on the eShop, that told me that I would need to visit the eShop to register.
  • LR100 #20 10 months ago

Will Gamestop drop the price further when Nintendo give the nod to retailers?
  • peeps #21 10 months ago

For less than £100 i'd take the gamble. There really isn't too many games I want for it yet tho
  • SBfistfun #22 10 months ago

I saw it for £125 in Birchwoods QVC outlet store..

Oooh I work in Birchwood, just round the corner.
  • wizlon #23 10 months ago

£135 is a fantastic price, and remember kids, it'll play DS and DSi games too, that's one hell of a software library.

But yeah, the 3DS does need some more games, but by the end of the year there should be enough killer software (daydreams about Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7)

  • schnide #25 10 months ago

What's all this sub-£100 nonsense? Have we started looting online now? The 3DS has just taken a HUGE price cut already. I don't personally want one, but I still understand that £135 is a sheer bargain.
  • kenbrilliant #26 10 months ago

Anyone any idea of the delivery times for this site?

They seem to have Royal Mail express for ~£5 more, which is fine, but I'd want to have it either tomorrow or Friday morning, because otherwise I'm going into Game with a voucher that's been burning a hole in my pocket Friday morning (assuming they pass on the price drop!).
  • Jel #27 10 months ago

I got mine from here a few days ago for £125:

    http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/nintendo...

You can also use Quidco or Topcashback to get a further 6% off the non discounted price (£155) AND if anyone's interested in a further £5 off from Priceminister drop me a PM.

I don't work for any of the the above companies or care either way whether anyone buys one or not, just putting it out there.

It drops it a fag paper close to the magic £100!

Incidentally indications are the shops will be selling them for £135 from Friday, so it's still a decent saving.

Did the DS ever drop below £100?
  • geeza2020 #29 10 months ago

  • layleeloo #30 10 months ago

Less than a ton is not going to happen
  • Subquest #31 10 months ago

Did the DS ever drop below £100?

The DS lite started at £99, which is why I bought one. IMO a handheld device that only plays games shouldn't cost more than £100 when the games are £25 and up on release. Nintendo needs to do more about the cost of the games than the cost of the unit itself.
  • Dr_Z #32 10 months ago

are the people saying "I'd buy one for less than £100" the same people who said "I'd buy one at less than £200" on launch, and "I'd buy one for less than £150" after the first price wars?
It seems that any way Nintendo cut it, people will still moan about the price...
That said, I concur with the "lack of games" comment, although think that there are a few cracking titles to be had at the moment
  • RageBoy #33 10 months ago

Now if only GameStop Ireland would do similar.

    Last price, €275 with Zelda.

    Bargain.
  • Centrifugal #34 10 months ago

Now we wait as all the retailers try to undercut each other. 100 pounds would be the point where I take my card out from my wallet, I think.
  • natureboy #35 10 months ago

Zaavi ebay store sold the black and the blue for 149 then slashed the blue to 145 and know it seems they have gone back to 145 for both colours
  • Ryze #36 10 months ago

    NEEDS SOME GAMES

Couldn't have put it better myself.
  • TheFrostedFireFly #37 10 months ago

Hell, of corse I'd want the price of the 3DS to be lower but even I'm sold to get it at that price, besides, the consoles not even getting old yet and people want the price lower!? Think about how affected Nintendo's gonna be when this is through for them. Some guys just don't get business...

To those who give negatives to the game line ups should really consider how much secondary companies are trying to get their moments in the spot light, but if you really want good games, then wait. Have you not seen the epic games coming up?

To the point in my favour: HELL YEAH!
  • pramath #38 10 months ago

    @LazyDan and Toothball
It does. Either you'll get a SpotPass notification from Nintendo (SpotPass must be on, though), or, at the very least, it'll tell you you're an Ambassador in the News section in the eShop. Check that, you should have something there.
  • apoc_reg #39 10 months ago

Until the software is £25 count me out
  • Collymilad #40 10 months ago

Yep < £100 and I'll be getting one.
  • Collymilad #41 10 months ago

Yep < £100 and I'll be getting one.
  • bemaniac #42 10 months ago

All the launch software is like £11.99 each now so get in there!
  • geox30 #43 10 months ago

I am more convinced now that this price cut may backfire at Nintendo. It is ruining people's esteem for the device.I still cannot understand what where they thinking when they launched it without any descent games.Still, several months after its release there are but few good games for it.Believe me when I say that it is a whole lot of fun to play on it,but I can see where all this hard critisism is coming from...
