UK Top 40: Zumba gets tenth week top

Gym'll fix it.

An uninspiring week of game releases sees Zumba Fitness unchallenged. It landed top of the UK all-format charts once again.

It's the game's seventh consecutive week at number one and tenth overall. 90 per cent of its sales this week were on Wii.

Last week's lonesome retail release, a Smurfs game for Wii and DS, failed to chart.

7/10 film tie-in Cars 2 climbed the charts from eight to second this week, shoving drug-addled Call of Juarez: The Cartel down to third.

Ubisoft's expanded Just Dance 2: Extra Songs boogied from eighteenth to fourth place in its second week in the chart.

Further film tie-ins sandwich Dirt 3 in sixth - Lego Pirates of the Caribbean is fifth while Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is seventh.

FIFA, L.A. Noire and Call of Duty round out the top ten.

Act surprised.

Of course they buy Zumba. In Wii you don't have other similar games like Zumba. They, Wii owners, want feel they have Kinect too. :)

According to my calculations, there are now approximately 3.5 copies of Zumba Fitness for each man, woman and child in the UK.

I don't think the issue here is what games are selling at the top of the charts but more the format they're on. 90% of those sales are on the Wii, yet Nintendo have basically abandoned the console themselves since the announcement of the Wii U. I'm wondering why - the PS2 wasn't dropped after the announcement of the PS3 (hell, I think it's still even going). There's also been practically nothing of interest on the download front for months - I'm just greatful Nintendo Europe have seen fit to localise some certain Japanese RPGs or we'd be lumped with nothing but Zumba until Zelda is released.
