Team Ico HD bonus content detailed

Last Guardian video footage included.

Ico & Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection will pack in a smattering of bonus content alongside the twin PS2 classics when it arrives on PlayStation 3 later this year.

As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, you'll get a voucher for two XMB Dynamic Themes and "a ton of exclusive video content from Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian that fans won't want to miss."

Due out on 28th September, the set adds 1080p HD and stereoscopic 3D support, 7.1 surround sound and PSN Trophies to Team Ico's two beloved titles.

The studio's next game, The Last Guardian, is still without a release date, following its E3 2009 reveal.

    All this is just gravy to most of us I think. Like anyone with a PS3 who reads this site wasn't going to buy this even if it was just the games!

    Wonderful stuff. I have both ICO and Shadow on PS2 - had them for years, but not finished either game yet.

    I also have a BC launch PS3, and dip into them every now and then.

    It'll be VERY HARD not to buy this collection, as I'd love to play them both from scratch to the finish in full HD on the LOVELY HD projector I'm getting for Christmas, using an entire living room wall in 1080p!

    :D

    I hope the two XMB Dynamic Themes look nice, and aren't shitty like the vast majority of dynamic themes.

    7.1 surround sound? FUCK YES!

    @Alestes

    You should get the Wipeout HD dynamic theme. Pure sex on your dash.

    Having never played these games before but obviously well aware of their classic status, I must ask: Are the games really that good?

    I don't mean that facetiously by the way. Its just that I've purposefully avoided reading about them or watching any clips so as not to spoil any surprises when I buy them. I'd just like to know if they really live up to their reputation or is it a case of them being very good games but with a little hint of hype on top?

    Yes. ICO is incredible, SOTC very almost up there with ICO.

    Give yourself a weekend to immerse yourself in ICO, that's my advice.

    @32768Colours They're very good as experiences, game-wise they're alright, I was somewhat disappointed with the difficulty (too easy) and similarity in defeating the Colossi in "Shadow of the Colossus" though. I mean it's quite competent, you can do pretty much everything you'd want to be able to, given the scenario (in excess of what is necessary, no doubt), it's just that it's not always the most satisfying given the sparse AI (few enemies) and little variety. Not incredible replay value either (there is a bit of a bonus, but it doesn't 'redefine it' or anything).

    All told though, really beautiful games for the PS2 (even now the visuals hold up to an extent), with an incredible atmosphere , and I'm quite tempted to get the HD just for Ico (I remember being fairly gob-struck by the demo).

    Feeling the trailers for "The Last Guardian" are somewhat an unfair tease at this point, I can only hope they've been using this time productively. It's probably a must-buy with just a rehash of the tone of the first two games, but I'd really love a system defining game akin to LBP again, after the long build-up of hype and development time.

    My most anticipated release of the year. Cannot wait to re-experience these worlds on a 37 inch screen in hd

    both games i want.

    but i couldnt give a crap about the XMB themes, the creators seem to have no clue that the icons need to be both visible and readable to ever use their theme long term. Something all the theme creators do, which leads me to believe they dont actually spend any time considering what they are making and fart them out....CONTRAST people, Contrast!

    I wish I could like youtube videos of south park episodes at work, but look up the episode "Free Hat", and you'll get an idea about how I feel about these HD remakes of classic games, which IMO shouldn't be touched.

    ICO, Shadows & Last Guardian are the ONLY games that make me wish I had a PS3.
  • P1GEONPOO #19 10 months ago

    @TudeScud
    LBP is a good game, but a system defining game?
    The last game of that calibre was HL2.

    Words cannot express my elation for these masterpieces (moreso in HD).

    @Alestes & sonicyoda
    The Studio-Output... output has been rather nice actually, especially Benoit's Dream and Lake of Fear & Sorrow.
    And the dynamic themes by Straight Right are very good also.
  • TudeScud #21 10 months ago

    @PigeonPoo Absolutely. Halo, Gears of War, LittleBigPlanet, Grand Theft Auto 3, Zelda OOT, Sonic, Mario, all system definers. I don't pretend to be without bias and if you like, I include LBP2 with the pretense of LBP. I don't mean that another game can't compete with these titles either, but I'm struggling to think of one for the PS3 that competes (I say that as a happy owner of the system and many games). I'm aware of Kill Zone, Uncharted, Resistance, Infamous, ModNation, etc., but none of them reach the level of LBP+2, which really transcend the normal definition of game for me. Feel free to name your own :D

    @TudeScud
    Fair point, you meant the game that defined a system for you and not in general. I can live with that.
