Oblivion 5th anniversary ed UK bound?

New BBFC rating suggests so.

A new BBFC rating for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition has popped up online, suggesting UK gamers may soon see the launch of the 5th anniversary edition of the sprawling fantasy RPG.

The 5th anniversary edition launched in the US earlier this month.

The new BBFC rating, classified today, details the Game of the Year Edition of Oblivion, which includes the Shivering Isles expansion.

In the US the 5th anniversary edition includes a map, a making of DVD with a Skyrim trailer and a $10 Off Coupon for Skyrim.

This comes in a steelbook with slip cover.

And why wouldn't it come to the UK?
  • johnson81 #6 10 months ago

I'll bet it will cost more than the £6.80 I paid for it 2 weeks ago in the Steam sale, with all DLC.

You can on PC, there's a mod that swaps Oblivion's graphic engine for Morrowind's. Although I seem to recall that they've changed the music in that too, which is a shame, I loved the Morrowind music.

sadly, from what I've read on other sites, we PS3 users are not getting the full game experience as once more no trophies support is included in this oblivion game

Why not just buy a used GOTY copy for a dollar or two?

The bigger question should be is this version fixed so it does not crash on exit in windows 7? that would be worth another purchase for.
  • slickster #14 10 months ago

If this one got trophies i'll buy it love oblivion best game ever,i dont mind starting again at level 1 to get platinum.
  • mooseti #15 10 months ago

Unless my brain is failing to function, I already OWN Oblivion GOTY, complete with Shivering Isles.

What is the point of this release?
  • Incarta #16 10 months ago

I thought the US version came with all the DLC? If not, I won't be considering this.
  • peppergomez #17 10 months ago

@rayscoota: there's a user mod that fixes this. check out the official mod forums on bethesda and you should be able to find it pretty easily. there's a user mod for nearly every taste for this game. i'm running FCOM and a bunch of others, making the game far superior to and far prettier than the stock version.

If you'd like to crowbar the chip off your shoulder and start the 1000 mile descent from the top of your high horse, the point of the release is obvious.

The game is getting hard to find new (physically, obvious the Steam version isn't running out) from the main retailers. It's in and out of stock with amazon traders, but there's no reliable cheap way to get an instore copy in a way that actually makes the publisher any cash. There's a buzz around Skyrim, and they want to fill the gap, so a budget re-release makes perfect sense. And as it's a steelbook, it'll go up in value when it sells out, rather than being worth £3 at cex in 6 months.

I'd have considered it myself, if not for the really cheap version I got in the Steam sale with all the DLC.

@zrerz. It is a disappointment that bethesda didn't add trophy support, but unfortunately its not a requirement on re-releases like it is for new games, and given bethesdas track record on ps3 trcs its a little optimstic to expect them do even do what is required, let alone go further than that.
