DJ Hero's final DLC pack

Sniff.

Activision has launched the final downloadable track pack for DJ Hero 2.

The Ultra Mix Pack, on sale today, includes "House Music" by Benny Benassi (Remix by FreeStyleGames), "Sofi Needs a Ladder" by Deadmau5 (Remix by FreeStyleGames), and "We No Speak Americano" by Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP (Remix by FreeStyleGames).

It costs 640 Microsoft Points, $7.99 on PlayStation 3, and all tracks are available as downloadable singles for Wii for 300 Wii Points each.

Its launch marks the end of Activision's support for DJ Hero. The Hero brand, which includes Guitar Hero, is now on "hiatus" until an undisclosed time.

But the fate of DJ Hero developer FreeStyleGames remains undecided.

The UK studio was, as of February, in talks with owner Activision over its future.

"We continue positive discussions with Activision around possible routes for FreeStyleGames," design director David Osbourn, creative director Jamie Jackson and commercial director Chris Lee said in a joint statement.

"We have not reached an agreement as of today, however we are in continued dialogue and hope to have more news soon. Messages from the industry and gamers alike have been warmly received and we are incredibly grateful for the support."

Eurogamer broke the news that Activision had closed its Guitar Hero business, ending the Guitar Hero and DJ Hero franchises. The US giant also revealed plans to axe 500 jobs.

Honestly, I'd guess a new Hero game in 2013.

People bought DJ Hero? I didn't even know there was a second one.

I'm tempted to buy it but I don't know where the deck would go and I'm not a huge fan of that genre of music.

Well you get those guys who say, "why play guitar hero when you can play a real guitar?" and I disagree with that kind of comment, because they are very different.
But with DJ Hero it makes more sense, they are still very different, but if you got some decks and an effects board, a few free PC programs, then you'd have way more fun. I could be wrong.

You think they'll wait that long??

The quality of the DLC pretty much illustrates why there will be no more.

Never bothered with the DLC, and am still to pick up the second one (cheap one day). But the first is a great game. I had a play a few nights ago after the pub, and picked it back up straight away. It really is satisfying, and on the harder levels the cohesion between what you are doing and what you hear is very good. Lots of nice little features, and a very good track list on the whole. Plus im an absolute sucker for peripherals.

DJ Hero is probably the last decent thing Acti released.

I've always hated the dlc price structure for these rythem games. I wish they'd include drm free copies of the music with it, at least to give value for money.
